How do you access the free spool lever? I am interested in doing something similar, but can't picture how I would access the winch manually.

I had the same thing happen, the nut is welded in the factory and is also inaccessible to tools after the skids are on; so tightening is tricky. I purchased some M10 Extruded U-Nuts from Amazon to try, I need to do an oil change soon, so I haven't tried to put them in there to see if they hold...
