I'd recommend running to the battery. Not sure what that radio is pulling but i know the Midland MXT575 and MXT500 on high power are pulling 30amps on high power on 50watt channels.

@ezapar 2 These are FRS radio. FRS and GMRS are on the same frequencies the only difference is watts. FRS is limited to 2watts max, but a GMRS can be up to 5 watts max for handheld and 50watts max for a mobile vehicle mounted system.
