My spare has been off the car three times (prior to this finding). Once to install the rear Diode Dynamics light a few years ago, twice at the detailer for ceramic coating and detail(both in the past two years)

the full assembly part numbers are M2DZ-7847076-K M2DZ-7847076-M T2DZ-7847076-D The last one is the newest as each replaced the previous. The only part I need from it is the actual tire carrier itself- that has no individual part number as it’s part of the full assembly

Took the spare off today to see if that changed the tail gate rattle at all. Gave me a chance to get a better look. It definitely burst inside out, and it’s quite deformed but tough to say how/why. No visible damage to the tire carrier or tail gate.
