I can't add much more for the off-road recommendation, but I would highly recommend, if you are camping there, plan it over a time with a new moon (no moon) so you can see the nigh sky in its full glory. It's beyond imagination if you've never seen it before.

Save your dryer lint in a Ziplock as easy fire starter 'kindling'. Spritz in some Tiki oil for a guaranteed fire starer that is as good as gasoline, burns longer, and usually smells way better.
