Having been through the process myself- I wouldn’t really suggest attempting it without removing the lid assembly. It’s really not difficult to access the pin so removing it is quite trivial. However- trying to go about it without doing so would definitely just make the entire process much more...

Turns out the Korean company is selling the kit on eBay so I took the plunge and made the purchase. Box arrived today!
Unfortunately it came with absolutely zero instructions of any kind- so I'm likely going to have to do a whole lot of calling around to various different customization shops...
