Lube the pins and metal locking points with some grease. I have a 21 and used superlube depending on how often you take your top on and off it will last a LONG time. It's been at least 2 years since I last put any grease on the pins since I rarely if ever take the top off.
I don't remember anything significant about break in on mine and changing how it felt. Although break in was 4 years ago. Mine's pretty goopy up there as well. Ignore the dog fur, it gets everywhere.
Well this is interesting... I've been meaning to call FP about my tune because it reprogrammed my DTE to calculate as if I had a 2 door 16 gallon tank and I've put it off because it's a pretty minor annoyance. I'm glad I found this thread before calling for an updated tune.
I'd be pissed if I...
Manual should be the only transmission option...
I live with Southern CA traffic and still love it. My hope is when I'm ready to let go in 2030 there will be one more chance for another manual.
If you're sure it's the hard top popping try a little lube.
I just lubed the pins and metal to metal latch points with some super-lube grease. Doesn't take much just a apply with a q-tip and the popping went away. It's been pop free since Nov 2021.

I'm down to averaging 17.5 mpg and the primary reason is my commute changed from 40-60 city/highway to all city. Previously was around 18.5mpg with that mix. When it gets the chance to stretch it's legs on the highway it will average 20-21 mpg depending on terrain and conditions.
Worst I've...
Toyota is not immune to problems, it's luck of the draw.
Between an 04 & 19 Siennas and an 05 Tacoma over than last 20 years we've had...
Failed power door latch (04 Sienna)that ended up destroying the door ($2500 out of pocket). Toyota later recalled it but would only reimbursed the cost of...
And? What does the adding port injection have to do with the manual transmission? The take rate was a little less than 1 in 10 for the Ecoboost Mustang.
If I remember right they were leaving it in 3rd or worse 4th.
If anyone is leaving it in any gear higher than 1st, you're wrong. If you're really worried park in C, that provides the most mechanical advantage against rolling. For it to roll 1 mph in C it needs to get that engine spinning like...
