You guys know the park better than I do, when do you want to get started and where's the best place to meet?

Best place to meet is probably at the General Store. I dont know the park as well as other as the three or four times Ive been I was always following someone else.

@vrtical haw about you? And what are some good trails to run? I love some challenge.

The general store can get busy so if it is, there are the lower lots to stage. I think a couple of us have been on enough trails that you can carve out a couple of hours easy. Last time out we started off Trail 2 off the back trailer parking and worked our way up to the overlook then went from there. Ended up on G5, then G6 to G26 which spits you out the west side of the park near Frozen Head. There are plenty of "easy" connectors between a lot of the trails so as long you dont end up on the crazy ones. You can also take a super easy route up the main trail P1-G1 to G2 to the the overlook and go from there also.

@Tricky Mike right off a cliff j/k. let see how many we can get then a consensus on plan route, it shouldn't take too long if we have people with info. I like to go whether its easy stuff or not, still plenty to do. The best advice is to get the paper map at the store as you need to deal with getting a pass anyways, hell I need one as a backup still. I have an onXmap subscription so that does help a bit, been lazy and need to start using route builder.

What's your setup, experience, and what are you looking to do? I might be back in town, if so I'm in!!

@Valhalla BL on Goodyears and 2.5" lift. I like to party, 6-8 rated trails. But I do have to be able to drive it back home 2500 miles...

Have any of you paid for the maps on the app?

Guy I ride with paid for the Windrock app and he likes it.

@vrtical that's because you're the tail leader. The main one on my bucket list is trail 16, so maybe we can pick a few trails that tie into that?

@Tricky Mike If Steve @Valhalla goes you can go try with him, its on my no go list. The mud rut section will be a problem with my braptor. The rest of the trail can be an absolute nightmare if its wet also depends on the day. I am not sure I would recommend this with being soo far from home without a trailer. Windrock trail rating is a bit deceiving sometimes and it absolutely gets knarly when its wet.

Im not game for taking my daily driver out 16 either. 22 possibly but not 16.

@Tricky Mike 22 would be a challenge on 35s. I want to do 16 but only with the right group.

@Valhalla really? It looks really mild in videos. I see 35s and 1 locker is recommended for 16.

I’d love to go but will be road tripping. Y’all have fun and be safe. I’m going early August to Windrock with some NC folks if y’all want to come back then.

22 is a steep uphill grade, a jeep jamboree came through in the rain and made the worst obstacle not doable without a winch in a 3 door BL on 37's... the month before that it was doable on 35s. A winch and som know how will get you far here though.
Before that rain and the jeep fest I believe I could have made 16, now it looks rough to tackle. If I can make it I'll try to plan a challenging ride. This is what I'd planned next....

@Tricky Mike I just mapped Steves route in ONX. its a good base route that gives you some options for the day. without doing T19 at the end its 16.3 miles plus back down to the store.

At least its hot out now so it dries out quicker. Not too worried about the forecast and usually if we get rain its after 3pm plus its way too far out the forecast always shows that then poof its not going to rain

I am in the middle of getting some new rubber but I am not sure it will be on by next week, but you never know. We have another outing with the SEGEN6 GA group 7/22.

@vrtical I noticed thunderstorms every day on the 10 day forecast and was bummed but I don't think I've ever seen an accurate 10 day either.

Tentative Route Map, not including doing optional trail 19 at the end. This also ends up near the scenic overlook, but its just the main G1/P1 road back to the store.

@Tricky Mike it doesnt really give a ETA other than total miles Distance 16.3 mi, I would say couple hours depends on group size which dictates how much we cover. I am good running all that day so I am sure we will add more.

I try to get out by darkthirty since I have to load it back on the trailer and drive almost 2 hours to the house. Last outing a friend and I got 50 miles under our belt by the time we hit pavement... we were still 30 minutes from the trailer where we aired back up at. That outing was around 11 hours.

I am going to map some more based on time at stop... Part of it is how long it takes to get a group past obstacles ... the more that go the slower the going...

ok this is the 2nd half that Steve posted which adds 29 miles. I got lost between tr7 and getting to tr13 at the top of the park, not sure where the cut over is. Also at the point its a lot of basic gravel road back to the lot on G1. I think after we hit tr4 we should maybe think about other options.
