My dealer, Empire Ford in Huntington, called yesterday. They are sending a credit card authorization to me to secure my reservation with a $500 deposit. He also asked for my shirt size as part of a swag bag we are getting. It we a nice conversation until I asked when I could expect delivery. He replied, “Should be by summer because you have an early reservation.” I guess I was was still hoping for “ by spring”. Current car has an appointment tomorrow for the front end work I was holding off on. There is no way it will till summer the way it is. Anyone else hear from their dealer lately?

Nope. I'm with Crown Ford in Lynbrook. Nothing yet. Is the additional $500 normal? Haven't heard of that before. Thought next payment would be the down payment.

I had not heard of it before either but maybe they are trying to weed out people who won’t convert before they put too much time into it? He did say there would be more down payment later.

Huntington is my dealer as well, but I am pondering a switch to make sure I can get invoice price. The $500 down payment is not necessary and I don't plan on paying that until I place my order. Swag or no swag ;)

Sounds like a scummy dealer move to me, I can see asking for a deposit MAYBE after your order is in the order system. I'm with Crown as well.

I heard nothing from my dealer nor received any emails. I have Levittown ford. Willing to change dealers but after contacting a few no one could confirm any deals.

This "Up in the air" planning scheme may make me scrap my deposit altogether. I have a feeling we will somehow get screwed for being first, either in build quality or from our pocket.

I dont disagree but I'm taking it one day at a time. At least until its actually time to make a non refundable deposit.

I'm with Riverhead nothing yet

I just want to confirm, when it is "ordering day", must we stick to the model we put or deposit on or can we switch to a different one? My deposit is on Out Banks, but I'm worried that Biden with raise fuel prices.

@Evanm14 Just curious, why would the model matter for gas prices rising? the 6 cylinder is only standard on the wildtrak

If by deposit you mean the $100 reservation, you dont have to stick to anything. Go from wikdtrak to base, 2 door to 4.... doesn't matter.

I went over to Biener Ford in Great Neck again and spoke to Frank. He told me that they will take my order in a few weeks. He also mentioned that the 2 doors will come out first, sometime by the end of the year or January whereas all 4 doors will head to showrooms in spring. Do you think it's BS?

That doesn’t seem to fit with the schedule Ford laid out. He may confusing the 2 door with the Bronco sport

A follow up to the $500 deposit that was requested. I did not do it. I spoke to my guy at Empire, different from the guy who called me a few weeks ago. He said to wait till next month when we finalize the order to put money down.

It sure would be nice to test drive on before ordering but that isn't happening .

I agree, they should offer a refund on down payment if the Bronco isn’t the right fit for potential buyers. Anyone know if that would be the case?

Probably not. I think once you give a deposit on your build and sign the paperwork, it would be non refundable. It’s worth asking your dealer before you sign the check.
Evanm14
I am pulling out of Biener, they already told me no deal.

What do you mean by no deal?@Evanm14
Evanm14
@Top Mach I had asked the owner if I can buy below MSRP, he said no.

I'm starting to wonder if it doesn't make sense to wait on the Bronco. Factors influencing this for me are:
- can't test drive one before committing
- can't get a white hard top
- can't get an accurate estimate on when things will be available (2022 model year?)
- can't get clear answers or any deals from local LI dealers
- we're probably all looking at every bit of $40-$50K+ builds, right? That's big money to drop with all the questions above looming.

Maybe by giving it a year to see how these things shake out, I/we can not feel squeezed, rushed, uncertain etc?

I can't say that I haven't thought the same but in reality, we haven't been pressured to do anything yet but wait... and wait some more. Guess I will make that decision when we are up against the deadline to do so. Whenever that may be.

I was actually thinking about putting in a 2nd reservation now, knowing it will be for a 2022MY. This way if I do decide to bail on my July reservation I still have a place in line later on... when the production kinks are worked out and more options are available.

Not a bad idea Double IPA...may have to mull that over while enjoying a beer today!

You need to look at it this way; I pay up now to be the first on the block or I wait to save money and can be more exacting with the details.

I think I am going to keep my spot and potentially be one of the first on the block to have one. I know all the pit falls of first model year problems and everything listed above, but I really want this truck. I know down the road they will be better deals to be had at dealers when demand softens and they are sitting on dealer lots, but that may be for some time. I actually need a new car sooner rather than later. It would be waste to buy something I don’t want.
