Once again. Great sadness. 2 killed

We have a 2nd home about 5 miles from where this happened. Every year it seems like this happens. We have our oldest daughter staying at our place in Ouray now and after they leave some grand nieces will be up there. Oldest is 21 and we have stressed to their parents about driving both offroad and on that stretch of highway but don't want to scare them out of going. Their initial plan was to arrive at night and we're like no way Jose. Drive that stretch during daylight.

I'm not familiar with what happened. Is there a story online?

Per Google
The Million Dollar Highway, a 25-mile stretch of US Route 550 between Silverton and Ouray, Colorado, has an average of 7 deaths and 40 accidents per year. This stretch is known for its scenic views, hairpin turns, and lack of guardrails, contributing to its reputation as a dangerous road.

My dad drove this highway 2-3 times weekly, in winter, in a 2WD Buick Centry. To this day I am still amazed he never crashed.
