Alright so I thinking about doing something. Maybe stupid maybe not.

I currently have a set of eibach’s sitting in the garage but from my understanding installing them and 35” tires on my Bronco with the lower gear ratio would cause my Bronco to feel sluggish/reduce performance. Not to mention after running the numbers the cost of wheels/tires/install is actually comparable to the cost of trading up to a Badlands (If not slightly more affordable which is WILD)

Does anyone know anyone in the area that has done a lift/35” tire swap on the lower gear ratio? I’m hoping to see for myself the difference in feel/performance. Everything in me is telling me it’s better to stick with my Bronco and continue with the upgrades, but the numbers checked out….I’ve ran them multiple times now and its feels so counter intuitive to my gut instincts.

The lift isn't really the pain point. All of the components of the suspension it's self are identical between models minus the actual coilovers.

It's turning the larger heavier tires on the smaller gears. I'd venture to bet that there are quite a few who have done the same. You would ultimately be fine but you'd have some power loss.

This question would likely have much more traction on the Facebook pages for Georgia Broncos or SEgen6 bronco.

TLDR. Personally I don't think it matters one way or another and I'd keep my current partially paid off car given the economic uncertainty ahead.

@Rspayde Totally agree. Not the best of times to purchase a new vehicle. @TheI3lindMan, if your Bronco isn't giving you any issues, to keep building it with quality work and parts helps you to better know where potential weak and strong points are without too much guessing. This is personal, but many take pride in the customization process regardless of who does the work on installs. A new Badlands is now a better platform, but also expensive and isn't fully kitted and still needs upgrades such as real rock rails, air, lights, etc. Unless fully buying cash, not sure it's worth financing in the long run. If having that much cash in hand, none of this stuff is a concern anyway! lol.

Only question for you isn't the gearing, as that change isn't terribly expensive, but which transfer case do you have? I can't remember if you said in the past that you have 4A. The beefier transfer case is about the only thing that is pricey and tricky in the aftermarket and since you're into wheeling, not having the better T-case will be a pain point. Not sure to the level of trading up for, but still a concern. That said, either T-case will get it done.

nope no 4A =(, and I think thats why I'm thinking about the trade up. While completely agree upgrades will still be needed, starting out with lockers/better t-case/higher gear ratio/already upgraded suspension/tires if I'm going to make this a full time hobby makes since, especially as I start to look at the cost as that's where the numbers start to make sense and why I'm seriously thinking about it. Lot of Badlands going for 10k+ off MSRP right now as they try to make room for the 2025 stuff.

I made the mistake of no 4A but do have beefier gears. If I jumped ship I'd just go get a ranger raptor

@TheI3lindMan Get what you mean now. In that case, if the money works out for you to make the trade, do so immediately. Once Spring hits, car buying becomes more of a chase. Yes, the front locker is important for getting unstuck. The new Badlands even comes with the FP steering rack, which is another upgrade I need to do along with shocks at some point, but that's literally it for me, although that's several thousand. Fact is, those are wants, not needs. What you've listed are needs in my opinion if going to make wheeling a regular thing, which looks like you will.

@TheI3lindMan eh yeah I mean if I had a loan that was higher interest than what I currently hold I'd be more easily talked into an upgrade.

The fact that you're likely left paying for labor on upgrades makes it a lot more appealing as well.

That’s why the math starts to work out. My credit is pretty solid so not too worried about interest rates, and should get comparable to what I currently have. Going to go look this weekend…if i pull the trigger I’d like to break her in early if anyone is down soon?

I am parked at a sub 3% rate on the car so locked in plus can't get cyber orange no more. But yeah the math seems to be pointing to a trade in as long as you don't have a negative equity position.

@TheI3lindMan Always down to roll bud! A stock BadSquatch only needs to air down a bit. Now, take it easy those first 1K miles for engine break in. I've got the 2.7 as well and although started off using 87 gas, now only run 93, since I"m a bit concerned about the de-tuning of the engine with regular and when off-road like to have the full torque available just in case. Hope you find something you like this weekend. Send pics when you do!

Not a done deal yet, but I'm going to look this weekend. If the math continues to make since I'll pull the trigger. As soon as it stops though I'll pull back.

I was thinking maybe going with the facebook guys on the 22nd up to TN, but also wouldn't mind doing some of the lighter trails up by Nimblewill like the ones we first went on when I met up.

My birthday is actually the 17th...I've asked for a Morrflate....lets see if someone gets one for me and i can stop mooching off ya'll =)

So far one dealership has said they can’t sell because of the recall…annoying because they’ve been calling twice a day since I reached out. At another one now and they have one not on the recall…starting to check my numbers but it’s looking more and more likely I’m joking the Badlands/Sasquatch club

The white color is definitely slick. Plus a hard top to boot.

@Rspayde sorry to leave you alone in the sasquatchlessness lol. Ya I’m currently talking to them about my options.

I need next Saturday to reinstall my GSMR radio and a few other elements I’ve got coming in next week, but anyone up for an early ride next Sunday morning? To Ray’s point I don’t want to go to hard right off the bat as I need to break in the engine, but would love to get some dirt on her sooner rather than later.

Otherwise I do plan on meeting up with the Gen6 group in TN the following weekend.(It’s my birthday month so trying to get as much play in this month as I can)
