Figured I would post here in case anyone is in the area: Saturday, September 16th there will be a group of Broncos meeting up at Rausch Creek Offroad park. If you are interested in coming out, message me so we can get an approximate head count.

For those not familiar with the place, Rausch Creek is always a great time with lots of trails at varying difficulty levels.

would be great to see a group of us out there!

Green, Blue, or Black trails ?????? Not real familiar with RC I go to AOAA a lot.

Depends on the group and their comfort level. There was some discussion about maybe splitting up… Rausch is pretty comparable to AOAA although I do prefer AOAA for some reason… not sure why, I just do :)

I asked because I have heard people say that AOAA green is more like RC blue, AOAA blue is more like RC black, etc. Also because I have been delayed in replacing my plastic skids with steel ones. Which has delayed my trail time. It's been a whirlwind for me this year.

I have been taking my son on the ATV's to AOAA over the past number of years so kinda partial to AOAA as well. have watched Utuber videos from RC and trails look cool there too.

Yeah, that could be a way to sum it up. Trails at RC to me seem rockier. I have metal skids and have definitely used them at both locations. But I have seen a metal skid equipped Bronco come back from the trails at AOAA on a tow strap due to a stick puncture through the trans pan so I guess it can happen anywhere.

Oh yeah, I have seen many here post, "I got the skid plates" only to realize it did not cover the trans. I can remember early on many defended the "plastic" pan, Oh they are tougher than you think, that is why they have those ribs, they can take a shot and hold up. Of course I laughed and knew one shot with a rock and you're stuck. Sure enough they started showing up first one, then 2 or 3 more, then it was "How come Ford didn't make a skid for that."

I have a V6 model and the rocket scientist that added the 2 braces on the trans crossmember should be fired. Between those braces and no trans skid, someone dropped the ball. That is why I have not hit the hard stuff yet. just forest roads and "no winter maintenance", at least until I can get it protected.
