Group for people in New England to talk, show off, and go off roading

Hi All,
Just got the Big Bend 2 mo. ago and I am looking forward to getting on some local trails. (around central Mass.) This is the first Bronco I drove since I took my drivers test in a 1984 Bronco. I am a rookie but looking forward to learning some trails.

@Murph914 hey that was us this past Saturday! My white Wildtrak is the second vehicle in this video. All of the broncos were stock Sasquatch except the FE who has a lift and 37s. Some interesting stuff happened later in the day - this video is the first obstacle.

Welcome to our cult, I mean fellowship! I'm in Boston, but get out to Barre pretty often where my son and I are developing a property. Member "JeepsR4Kids" is developing a contact list, and we might get a group run on a fun "intermediate" trail in Northampton. We're thinking Sat and maybe Sunday around Patriots Day, depending upon how many sign up. It's called the "Ma Bell Trail," and can be done (carefully) with a stock Bronco. I've done it twice now with a Badlands Sasquatch. It's 1.8 miles north of Jim's Variety Store, West Farm Road, Florence MA
I hear there's a good 4x4 trail at October Mountain State Park, but I haven't checked it out myself.

I'm told stock Wranglers can handle it. I'd say with some experience, a spotter who will jump out on occasion, good offroad tires, and at least rear lockers and/or airing down, you can do it.

Thank you for letting me know. I would love to try it but I have not done any real off-roading yet so I think I should stick to the beginner level trails until I have a bit more experience. I am signed up for the Bronco Off rodeo in July at Gunstock Mt. Hopefully I will make all my mistakes while using Ford's Broncos :) (I paid for the extra insurance, just in case)

The only functional Mod. that I have done is new wheels and tires. They are the same Diameter as stock but added and extra inch in width. 8.5"wide using 255 R/17 Micky Thomson AT, This gave me the same wheel diameter as the stock wheels so I did not have to change the speedo. They have 0 offset so they do stick out about 4" from the body. (I did not realize that Ford had a large negative offset) Eventually I am planning on doing a lift but most likely not for a long time. Bumpers and skid plates will be next.

I just checked out your link. Awesome! Just what I was looking for. I will check out some of the beginner trails this spring. Thank you for posting

Some people said the October Mountain is just a dirt road loop with a few rough spots, but the state park site states it is intermediate to difficult and should not be attempted without a high clearance vehicle and a winch. Maybe both in different places? It is large, and government agencies tend to go overboard on cautionary statements. So do you research, and post back.
I saw videos on Jericho state park, north of Mt. Washington. That's seriously intermediate, with some trails for expert-plus. Again, do your research, and always be willing to turn around.
