We haven’t had any adventures yet. Looking forward to hitting some class 4s here in VT next summer.

So far it’s been a beast on mountain roads and dirt.

Nothing, to be honest.

If anyone has any suggestions for southern New England, let me know. You used to be able to off-road in Pachaug State Forest (eastern Connecticut), but the state closed those trails to 4x4 vehicles a few years ago--only dirt bikes and snowmobiles are allowed nowadays.

Seems like my best options are to make the 3+ hour drive up north to Vermont, New Hampshire, or Maine.... or make the 3+ hour drive west to Pennsylvania. Neither of which I'm real crazy about.

I'm told Franklin State Forest has lots of unmaintained roads and trails. Many of them are for side-by-sides and single track (dirtbike). I'm not sure what is available for 4x4. But you don't have to check in with a park ranger or pay a fee. Not far from there is the F.Gilbert Hills State Park. I want to get down and check them out at the first inkling of Spring.

I have done the "Ma Bell" trail, about 1.5 miles one-way (no exit= return same way) in Northampton, MA, so named because it's a hillside cut that was made for phone lines (AT&T used to be nicknamed "Ma Bell." It's nicknamed the "Jeep Eater" and onX maps rated it a "6," which I think is harsh. Compared to Moab trails, I'd say it's a 3 or 4. I did it comfortably with a BadSquatch without deflating. I'd say an unlifted 4x4 with experience and/or a savvy spotter can handle it. I consider it an excellent first-timer's experience for serious trail and rockcrawling. I GPS's 805 Sylvester Road Northampton which isn't exact, but gets you close. Look for 100 feet of rough "parking" next to a slickrock break in the trees. Climb the slickrock, and you're good to go! This will advise you about land use there, plus a video:

Even better video. There's a monster truck handling some very technical obstacles: not to worry, there are workarounds for those:
