Trails near Asheville? I'm heading up to Asheville next weekend and wondering if there are any ORV areas nearby that I should hit?

Not really. Waynesville is about 30 minutes away. Look into Hurricane Creek. Right off -i-40

There are a couple...easy...trails nearby. When I say easy, basically just dirt/gravel roads. Bent Creek and one i don't recall the name of specifically in Pisgah National Forest. Sometimes they are a bit rutted out or muddy, but sadly nothing that truly tests the Bronco in any way.

The Bent Creek trail is right just before the campgrounds. It leads up to the Blue Ridge Parkway, from there you can continue down the right to the campgrounds. I have seen a few Black bears wandering around the area so that is a fun sight from time to time. Just make sure to be respectful of the mountain bikers who frequent it.

For Pisgah, it is the fork in the road before you hit Looking Glass Fall and Moore Cove trailhead. You take the left fork and go past the Fisherie it will be an uphill path that is a little narrow in some places but it is still very easy. This is the more "Difficult of the two I mentioned but again by no means difficult.

Hurricane Creek is the only trail in the general area of any note unless you go out towards Linville which is about a 1.75-hour drive NW.

The Pisgah trail mentioned is still closed. The storms last year washed several sections badly and they have not reopened them. you can take the right onto 475B after the hatchery that will come back out to 475, then take a left for about 2 miles and turn right onto Avery creek and follow that back down to the horse stables and 475. Its not great, but would be a fun distraction with the leaves.

I went and drove Hurricane Creek Road in the light drizzle Saturday morning. These trucks are amazing. I drove carefully and didn't even air down because I had to drive home that same day and forgot my compressor. Only had to use the front locker in one spot over some funky tree roots. I think I cut the trail a little short compared to some guides but it was still a fun little drive with beautiful scenery. Thanks for the suggestion.

I scrapped in a couple spots but nothing severe. I'm in a Badlands Lux with ~34" tires. I mention Lux because I use the Wheel cameras constantly when soloing.

@ATLBronco75 Glad you got to enjoy it! I haven't made it out there yet because I didn't want to do it solo with no recovery gear. Would you say there were any spots you were concerned about getting stuck?

@A51Asheville There was no spot where I thought I would get stuck but I was a little worried about not being able to continue forward if that makes sense.

I do think you need a higher trim and reasonably high clearance though. I had to use both lockers for one obstacle and I scraped a couple times even with 34 inch tires.

@A51Asheville I also think that it’d be easy in dry weather. Everything was wet and slippery when I was there.
