Just Peepers no Jeepers fall foliage cruise

I wanted to let you all know there is a fall foliage run organized by the facebook group "Northeast Bronco6G". @Murph914 and myself from this forum will be attending. Currently there are about 14 vehicles that will be doing a Kancamagus Highway run in the White Mountains of NH on Saturday Sept 24th at 8 a.m.

I know some of you may not have a facebook account (I use my wife's). If you do want to attend we can start to assemble a list of members and coordinate with the FB group event organizers. If you are interested in joining please respond to this thread.

I literally just got my shipped notification on my Bronco this morning, so if comes in before then… I think I may be interested.

Don’t put me on the list yet though. Sept 24th was going to be the day I was going to the Off-Roadeo, so I’ll have to try to switch that. See if I can hit up the White Mountains on Saturday and drive down south to Gunstock Sunday for Bronco Off-Roadeo. But not sure if they’ll let me switch dates. I’ll have to call them this week to see if I can switch it to Sept 25th.

@WildGreekSquatch I was going to, but talking with my wife and may change plans. Kids have Oct 10th off for Columbus Day. I should definitely have my Bronco then, so may turn it into Off-Roadeo/fall color sight seeing trip.

All depends if I can switch my Off-Roadeo date—still waiting for a response.

@RagnarKon to be clear.. the fall foliage ride is on SEPTEMBER 24th.

@decummins OHHH I see what I did. I put "November" instead of "September". My bad. I meant September.

I don't know what I was smoking when I wrote that (fixed it now). Nov 24th is Thanksgiving day, so I will be busy stuffing my face with food. And the New Hampshire Off-Roadeo isn't even open in late November, they shut down end of October for ski season. (I wrote that before I had finished my morning coffee—that's my excuse.)

Ohhh - this sounds great but I am on the wait list for an event at VIR and if I am able to get in I won’t be able to attend but I not off roading sounds like a great alternative to the track. Please keep me posted, I am a definite maybe!

Here's the detail so far.

Join us for our first annual fall foliage cruise. We will meet up off of Route 16 somewhere to be determined later and head up to Conway to drive the Kanc. Details will be worked out in the near future.

Sorry - I can't make this event... I just purchased a house in NH and have home inspection scheduled on 9/24.

Is this a trail run, or paved roads only? Thanks.

Can't make it. Wouldn't later in October have more color?
RagnarKon
RagnarKon
@BostonSasquatch it kind of varies every year, but generally speaking the farther north you are the earlier the colors change.

@RagnarKon
Right! I'm a native New Englander, and have been all over--college in Waterville, Maine. The 2nd & 3rd weeks of October are regarded as the sweet spots for color. You might do better here or there, now or later, but for planning those are the most reliable date ranges. Frost, summer rain/lack of, and other things also factor into the foliage alchemy.

*UPDATED INFO*. The facebook group "Northeast Bronco6G" will be meeting at Dunkin Donuts in Conway 494 White Mountain Hwy at 8-830am on Saturday Sept 24th.

If you plan on attending please respond so I can get a headcount and inform the organizers. If you are part of the facebook group and did respond then please disregard. I am only looking to coordinate those that are not part of the facebook group that want to go.

Not sure what you're asking about. I posted an endorsement of the "Ma Bell" trail in Northhampton, far above, if that's what you're asking about.. Click on the video--that's an unlifted Wrangler doing it, I believe. But note he has a spotter. It was my first rockcrawl, Badlands Sas, full air, lockers on, no problem. But I did get out often to carefully eyeball my approach.

lat/lng: 42.3239585,-72.6978931. Or GPS "805 Sylvester Road Northampton Ma;" it may come up as "Florence," which I gather is a district or section within Northampton. "#805" was not quite accurate, but it's close. Look for a section of dirt side/parking, about 100-150 feet long. The trail is at the end. Your first obstacle is a fairly steep section of slickrock, modest rockcrawl, on the left side of the tree break. Just gear down to 4L-rockcrawl, engage your lockers, disengage your stabilizer, and drive up it. Steep as it looks, it's moderate compared to some ledge jumps further up. High clearance and/or a spotter on those. Avoid the mud work-arounds if you can--the locals get upset at that, but if you need them, you need them.
There's a half-mile of trail beyond the end-point of the video. Enjoy!

Are you talking about the Jeepers Peepers cruise tomorrow? Or is this another ride. Kinda having a hard time tracking all the events here. The fb group seems to have a better layout to keep events tidy.
BostonSasquatch
Another ride--the Ma Bell trail in Northampton. Sorry, didn't mean to confuse. But if you're getting to the Berkshires, it's a decent trail to try out. Wish I could make that foliage tour--my wife, more so!
