June 14 NWA trail ride

11:00AM lunch @ Gabriela's Mexican Grill Home Page (gabrielasmexicanrestaurant.com) in Prairie Grove or meet at Devil's Den at 12:30.

For those who meet for lunch we will take Cove Creek Road to either the East or West outer loop trail system. @Razorbak86 and I will do a little scouting for a trail that is challenging but won't be too tight for those worried about scratches. These trails are a little tighter than the trail in May though. I think we put @Ragtop1962 second to lop off any offending branches.

For those who come up from the South and don't want to meet for lunch, we will pick you up at Devil's Den and bring you to the trail we are running.

GMRS radios are a plus if you have one, but we also have a few extra hand helds for those who don't.

Two weeks out. @Razorbak86 and I are going to explore some new trails this week for next weeks ride. Hope to see a lot of you there. We keep it pretty friendly, so feel free to bring the spouse, kids, whatever.

East outer loop probably not the best for a group ride. It did have some nice spots, but was not nice to us today. We’ll see how tomorrow goes.

Just a reminder about recovery gear. It's just a matter of time before you need it, and ideally you will use your gear for your vehicle. If you don't have any yet, be sure to look over what others have to figure out what you need.

We are doing East outer loop near Devil’s Den. Really just a short portion, as it would probably take 6 hours or more to do the whole loop. We will spend some time at the river in the above picture, so wear swim trunks if you want to take a dip. Maybe we’ll put up a cross where @Razorbak86 did an impromptu overnight.

Looks like a chance of rain all week, which means the mud holes leading to the river may be a challenge to the sub 35 crowd. I was lucky to get through on 33s, but we should have plenty of 35s to pull Scott out if needed. 😜
At least there shouldn’t be any pinstriping to worry about.

We still on for this Tuesday? Is the trail before or after lunch?

Everything is a go for Tuesday. Eat at the above location at 11AM and trails afterward. If not wanting to eat, meeting at https://www.google.com/maps/place/B...f39b812bf6190b!8m2!3d35.7136128!4d-94.3072939
at around 12:30 will be the best location to meet up.

Itinerary will be eat, then travel down Cove Creek road, which is a nice, scenic dirt road. Along the way we will point out the trail system for the West Outer Loop and do a very short section to show you what it is like and where to access it if you want to explore on another day. From there we will cross the highway and pickup anyone at the Buckhorn Trail parking lot, then proceed to the East Outer Loop.

We will only do half the loop and finish at the river to spend as long as you want, then backtrack a small section back to the highway and Devil's Den, where you can either access the interstate at Winslow to head South or West Fork to head North. An alternate (and shorter) route for those heading South would be to drive to Chester from the trail head if you don't want to go back to Devil's Den.

These trails are not difficult or particularly narrow, so you don't have to worry about damage or getting scratches, although breakdowns obviously occur in the worst places. There will be one area that sub 35s will probably get stuck and need pulled through, but it is easily done. The trails and pace are conducive to a group of 5 or so vehicles to enjoy the day and not necessarily to test your abilities.

GMRS radios will come in handy but we have a few spare handhelds if you don't. Highly encourage you to have your own recovery gear. It will be hot.
