Georgia Bronco

New to offroading and looking at different areas within reasonable distance from Atlanta / Marietta. What's the best source to find beginner to intermediate trails and associated information for trails around Georgia? Any help is appreciated

That is a Forrest service rd map with closures etc.

I also have a ton of roads mapped in GAIA GPS. I think I can share those, though I have never tried lol.

@4Runfun I use Gaia GPS for trails and can be used for hiking as well. The subscription isn't expensive and you can even bundle with Outside + from Outside Magazine. Best part about Gaia is that you can download maps for offline before you roll out for when you lose cell phone coverage, but can be still used on your phone or through Apple CarPlay in your new Bronco. AllTrails is pretty awesome as well. I use it for hiking and it's extensive and easy to use and has offline maps as well. Gaia can be used for hiking, but it's really great for off roading.

Gaia and AllTrails are great apps to find and research trails around you.

Once you head up 75 and hit Dalton/Chatsworth/N GA in general you get tons of great trails.

Have you invested in comms yet? A decent GMRS radio (pay the fee!) is a good investment. This of course and as I’ll always add; don’t go out wheeling alone. Bring a buddy and at least a tow strap and some shackles. This isn’t expensive at all and should always ride along with you. Happy trails!

Yeah, never head out alone if you're not hitting an easy trail you know in and out. Even then, bring a friend just in case (and because it's more fun with friends!)

If you don't have any friends, just let us know and someone here will probably be free to join you lol

Looks like @DREWR13 is going out with people in a couple weeks. That might be a good way to get some experience with others around to bail you out. I followed him on my first trail ride and it was nice seeing how deep the streams were, or how much clearance he had, etc.

Currahee Mountain trail is very easy. It's a gravel road to the top. Has great views and if you are a history buff, it's where Easy Company trained before WWII. It was made famous from the HBO series Band of Brothers. There's a a museum at the bottom of the mountain as well. I went up this past weekend. I've been wanting to visit the museum and drive up the mountain. You won't need 4WD, but it's a fun day trip.

There was a huge mud pit right before the trail started that was pretty fun if it's still there as well. It's about 2ft deep so put it in 4wd or you will get stuck..
