I usually go to America’s Tire in San Ramon. All the AT stores will match and beat any published price you find and they stand behind their work.

America's Tire in SoCal set up my wheels while I was down there and I have nothing bad to say about them, at least that location anyway.

Les Schwab is my fav by far, even I have to drive a ways to get to it.

America's Tire/Discount Tire always gets my tire business. Matter of fact, I have an appointment with them tonight to get 2 new tires on my wife's car. They have the most competitive prices and good quality tires - and great service - I have been able to find.

Thanks everyone. All the prices seem the same across the board so I am not worried about price match. I am looking for a deal!

I've had good luck with tire rack, don't know if they carry Method though. Got a deal on Pilot Super Sports when they were being replaced by the 4S. BBS Wheels and tires mounted/balanced and shipped for $1500

How big are you thinking of going with tires?

Thinking of going 33' which is actually like 32.7 or something. I have seen all kinds of sizes put on the Base. I'll probably go 265/70/17 since I am not doing any serious offroading. But I am also new the 4X scene and don't want to have to buy tires twice.

@MJBbase22 265/70/17 gets me through pretty gnarly stuff well enough, and depending on the tire, can be aired down to 15 psi and run all day long with no problems (these are Dick Cepek/Micky Thompson M/T Hybrids). 33" is nice (285/70/17), but heavier - you'll feel it. I haven't detected a significant performance difference between the two sizes.

I believe Discount Tires owns America's Tire and recently also owns Tire Rack.
I'd used America's Tire for over a decade, but recently my 2 local stores decided they would not mount my new wheels and tires (purchased via their online store) due to my car having aftermarket wheel studs (original oem uses bolts). They were ok with it for 10 years until recently.

Last question-what is the main difference in performance between 16" and 17"? I see some running 16's so they can run a bigger tire-is that the reason? One of the wheels I want is available in 16's but not 17. Base already has 16 but haven't seen anyone replacing wheels with that diameter-most go larger. Light off roading planned for me. Cheers.

Wheel (rim) size will not dictate how large of a tire you can run, it’s all about the sidewall. i.e. a 35” tire on a 16” wheel will have a taller sidewall than a 35” tire on a 17” wheel. This matters when you’re airing down. The more sidewall you have when aired down, the better you’re ride and traction will be. I would personally recommend a 17” wheel, because that is one of the most common size, and tires (regardless of how tall) will be more readily available and therefore less expensive.
