Broncos of Pennsylvania

Good morning Broncos of PA. Need some feedback on an accessory. Not sure if I like it or not. Didn't permanently attach it. Just taped it up being that it says install above 60°. Any feedback is appreciated. For reference, it's the Ford (Bushwacker)textured hood protector.

I don't think they serve much purpose, personally, and I'm all about function over form on an off-road vehicle. But it's your truck and your preference. It won't really hurt anything, so if you like it, go for it.

For what it’s worth mine has the factory ppf to protect front hood, but I thought the purpose for these things is to alter the air flow to reduce the chance of a windshield strike and not really aimed at off-road specific utility.. more an on road/higher speed thing

@JBMontclair Yes, I believe that is correct. Maybe this one works better than others I've seen. My brother in law had something that looked very similar to this on his Chevy Ram and he still took a small rock kicked up from a semi square to the windshield causing a crack. It might be a tall order to think this will really make a difference, but maybe it does. I've just never seen much benefit from any of these plastic stick-ons, including the rain guards some people put over their side windows. Generally speaking if it installs with adhesive I don't want it on my truck. That's just me though -- to each his own.

jk I don't mind it. You should take pics from inside out cause you see it, and I thought this vinyl was supposed to cut down glare from the hood?

The other thing I didn't mention is, if you leave this device permanently attached it will eventually damage or destroy your paint up front. They never come off cleanly years later (after they discolor, crack, etc. and you want to remove them.). There's no free lunch. Maybe avoid a rock chip or two, or definitely damage the paint -- the choice is yours.

I added one on mine. I do alot of highway driving and my windshields tent to get what looks like microscuffs. It really shows when its hit with direct sunlight. The deflector definitely changes the air flow to the windsield but not as much as I hoped. It seems like the wind hits the upper end and blows water down. I'll also say there was about a 1 mpg reduction in my fuel efficiency.

All that said, the front of the hood is protected from chipping.

They aren't really designed to direct rocks away from the windshield but they will disrupt airflow enough to keep lighter bugs like mosquitoes and mayflies from completely obliterating it. They often do cause damage to paint depending on the style and method of installation

Having them on previous vehicles I can say that this is the 1st stick on one. Most screwed on fron underneath and caused rust issues. It is a "hood" protector by name. I have seen the ppf film after a year or 2 of highway driving and you will have to paint the hood after you take it off. It looked rough. I am just trying to take care of it. My 86 looked horrible after a couple years because of the front hood design. My body shop guy said it will fade differently if outside all the time. Mine is garage kept when home. Just not sure if it looks the way I want. The rain guards are nice though in the summer time. Have them on my H2, a sedan and Dodge truck. Can't put them on a Bronco because of design. JMO, that's all.

The Bronco looks great regardless, it’s your Bronco so install it if you like it and don’t install if you don’t like it.

Me personally, and not a dig at anyone for any reason, just me being me: I'm honestly just going to ceramic the entire truck and be done with it. It's going to get all scratched up. My wife drives it in the NE and the roads here are hard on vehicles. I wheel hard and it's going to get some body damage. To hell with it. In 20 years it'll be in a dump somewhere either way. I'll enjoy it in the meantime. Hopefully Ford made a truck that can keep up with my abuse.

I like mine. Downside is it does collect water / ice. But not a huge deal to me.
