Hi all, just wondering if I can get in on this, just took delivery last week and we were looking for some public trail recommendations to get our feet wet. We are near Eglin/Destin area, thanks in advance!

Greetings and welcome. I have been hitting some of the trails on Eglin. They require a year recreation pass of $20 after viewing a video and a small test. That allows you to use the trails. They publish a daily 72 hr. projection of what areas are open on what days. It takes a bit to get use to but once you do it is all available. You can go by their office and pick up a guide book with a nice paper map. I download the current days map and plan my routes before I go. Here is the link, hope it helps. https://eglin.isportsman.net

Hey, we should meet up! My black diamond needs to get her feet wet offroading.

Ours is due to be delivered between 11/1 - 11/10. I'm looking forward to getting it out on the trails too. It'd be great to all meet up sometime.

Great to hear everyone getting their Broncos. We could do a Saturday meet up soon maybe between Veterans Day and Thanksgiving. Maybe meet up and do a "Broncos and Coffee", get acquainted, and then do a short trail ride on Eglin. Just a thought but I am open to other suggestions.

So, it looks like 13 & 20 November are possible Saturdays. I am a go for either one, who else wants to join and what date works best? @96GreenBronco does either of those days work for you?

Unfortunately I work two jobs and I work weekends. :( I'm off Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

I don't have anything on the calendar either of those days (13 and 20th) at the moment. Which entrance to Eglin do you want to meet? Maybe 9 AM?

It would be hard for me to meet Tues and Wed at the moment because I work the M-F shift. I may be able to break away for a little bit around lunch one day if at Eglin since its closeby

We also checked out the Pt Washington state forest in Santa Rosa and it was a good time, light sandy trails with a few mudholes. The bronco didn't find anything too challenging but it was fun. A lot of the trails seem to be closed for restoration but quite a few seem to be open.

9 AM works for me and I think the 20th might give @AutoFanatic43 time to get his Bronco and join if he would like. We could meet at the Timberlake Trailhead, right off of Lewis Turner BLVD. There is a parking area there for us to meet up. Everyone can bring their own coffee. I have been through some of the nearby area called Sikes and I plan to explore the Roberts Pond area on Veterans Day if weather holds. Regular trails and some areas of deep sand. I have ventured into the sand a few times but being alone I did not want to push it too far. I have a stock OBX with a rear locker and Sand Mode works great. I have a snatch strap with shackles and recovery boards and a shovel in case things get dicey. I will have paper and digital maps and navigating is not that hard. What do you all think?

@ChapEJF Yep I'm in for the 20th, I'll see u there. I have to work the 11th or I'd be there too. Did you have to air down for anything you did so far?
ChapEJF

@96GreenBronco Excellent and hopefully @AutoFanatic43 will have his Bronco and can join us as well. I have not had to air down yet, but I do have an air compressor that I will have with me. I don't think we will need to air down unless we hit some deep sand or mud.

@AutoFanatic43 Excellent and congratulation! I am sure you will make use of the beautiful weather to enjoy for the weekend. I am doing a recon of a potential route today. Once complete I will refine it and send out a finalize version. Love that blue color!

Recon complete and I am putting together an overview. Very happy with the route and excited about the trail ride. Looks like the weather will be great and hopefully no rain between now and this coming Saturday. I will make a new post later today so that everyone will be notified.
