Just wrapped on Day 1 of Austin Off-Rodeo. Amazing! It was my first time seeing the Bronco and it’s even better in person. Ford did a great job with this event. Very well organized, the site is gorgeous and the instructors were very knowledgeable and funny. We kicked off the day by breaking up into smaller groups (each driver gets a colored wrist band that signifies your group, guests get yellow). Went through a welcome and “get to know you” style ice breakers. Then it’s off to the ORX school where we learn about how to take the Bronco off road. The technology is impressive. The instructors provide excellent step-by-step guidance with volunteer drivers from the group. Then it’s off to the course. I opted for the insurance, and not sure what happens if you don’t get it. I choose a Badlands (Area 51) non -sas, 4dr, soft top. Stunning! The 12” screen when going off-road is remarkable. There is a view of what is ahead of you, a camera by your tires, overhead which also shows you your path line. We took off as a convoy, each car had a walkie-talkie for instructors to give direction. The course has every type of terrain (for TX) to show off the technology. Hills, rocks, water, steep inclines and deep descends. We were instructed to drive in 4-Low and at about 5MPH (which was enough for me). There were some white knuckle moments, especially if you are a total novice to off-road (always a passenger), but I got through it and loved every minute. Day 2 is bright and early, and I can’t wait.

Oh, and forgot to add…they give you a branded Yeti water bottle (very nice), water along the course and ice tea at base camp. We wrapped up the day to live music, excellent food and the chance to buy some merchandise. We took a group picture since we are the very first owners group!

That's awesome. I'm there at 1:30 tomorrow. Did you ride with no doors? That would be awesome.

Rad 😎👍🏻 Hoping to do it soon too and after we’re done check out HellabadBroncos in Lakeway! They restore old ones and they’re definitely worth a check out on your trip there to Austin!

Cool, Im scheduled for this weekend, the 3rd and 4th. Not expecting to get my mind blown on the course difficulties, but happy to get some seat time to see what I think and possibly drive 2 or 3 variants to compare.

I have 4 BNIB Motorola XT 420 walkie-talkies that I bought last year but have never used - only got one out of the box to put together for these pics and to check everything was there in each box.

Was planning a trip but have since sold the Disco that I intended to use Crying or Very sad
Anyway, these are the complete units that come with the handset, battery, holder with swivel belt clip, and charger with 2 and 3 pin adaptors. Also in each box is a full set of instructions and booklets. They work up to approx 9km but understand that is terrain-dependent.
They cost me just under £500 all in and are all still wrapped up - even put the one I got out back in the box correctly.
I did a great deal of research prior to buying these and they are probably the best walkie-talkies on the market that don't require a license.

Bit of blurb here;
The XT420 is a license-free two-way radio from Motorola. Built to IP55 standards the XT420 is rugged and reliable, with a limited Ingres of dust whilst also being protected against jets of water from all angles. Meeting Military Standards (MIL-STD-810 C/D/E/F/G) the radio is built to withstand a variety of working conditions, this going hand in hand with the fact that the radio is water-resistant allowing it to continue working in even some of the worst working environments.

A channel capacity of 16 allows for sufficient use for a small team, whilst also offering customized channel announcements to allow the user to be notified of the channel they are switching to. VOX Voice Activation capabilities mean that the radio can be used hands-free, either solely through the radio or also with a compatible accessory such as an earpiece that supports voice activation.

The Motorola XT420 is compatible with the previous XTNi model, meaning that should you already have a fleet of radios then it will work right out of the box with them. Offering crisp audio via a 1500mW speaker, the quality of reception remains constant in high noise or harsh conditioning working environments. The XT420 comes as standard with a Li-Ion battery and a belt holster, the charger is an additional purchase should the user need it.

Pics below and looking for £375 ono posted to UK mainland - please beware, when looking on the internet these are sold without chargers and or other add-ons, and then there is the dreaded VAT.
