About the upcoming update from Ford at 2:00pm......

Ruxer customers. I am trying to put an email together to address the announcement this afternoon and how it may impact your orders. I don't know exactly what Ford is going to say or many specifics. Info I had last night has changed as of about 20 minutes ago and will likely change more over the next few hours. Anything I say now would be premature and likely not consistent with whatever Ford comes out with. You will probably know what we know at the same time.

My sales staff will contact you within the next few weeks should anything need to be modified with your order. Since the info is coming late today, we won't have a plan in place until we return from the holiday weekend. I would rather make sure all of our people are on the same page rather than have conversations based on assumptions.

I apologize on behalf of Ford Motor Company for how this roll-out has taken place. It's not what we are accustomed to, nor to the standards and expectations we strive to deliver. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we go forward.

I have nothing but compliments for my experience with Ruxer, and I've really appreciated the prompt communication. Ford... eh... it's been a rough year for everyone. I don't hold much against them, but with the supply chain in flux for the last several months, I would prefer that they don't make commitments unless they're positive they can follow through. Under-promise/over-deliver is the best policy for making customers like me happy. lol

Thanks for being there. I know you're along for the ride like the rest of us so I'm taking it easy. Just hoping there are enough cool updates added to 2022 to make it worth the wait.

The msg from Ford just hit. Very vague but contained what was expected. I will post at 2:00.

How lame. I don't want a soft top so continue to hold pattern. All that build up for nothing.

Things not addressed in the 5/28/21 communication:
What about current scheduled orders: We have been told by our zone managers that if you currently have a VIN you are OK and the hard top issue should NOT affect you. Of course, this is not in writing but has been verbally confirmed by at least 2 reps.
What about FEs that haven’t been scheduled yet: Again, non-confirmed information is that a large chunk of these will be looked at next week when another round of scheduling happens. Not sure if it will be the balance of what’s left or just a portion.
Am I screwed if I’m a WT or 2 door: Neither the email nor associated FAQ address this question except for FE orders. There has been no information to say yes or no but several of us believe you may be hosed. I hope additional communication comes out to address this.
If I change tops will it get built: No, sort of. The FAQ plainly states you have a better chance of getting built if you have a 4 door, soft top and none of the restricted commodities. There is no guarantee changing these will get you built as dealer allocation and time stamp are still major factors.
Allocation: Ford states they intend to continue to schedule as many builds as they can within the production capacity and commodity constraints. We have heard they intend to fill dealer allocation numbers regardless if a customer walks away from the order or not. This could mean the dealer has a unit on the lot that they are free to sell. What it doesn’t mean is there is some sort of dirty deal between Ford and the dealers. If we tell Ford a customer wants the vehicle, they are going to build and ship it. Customer decides not to take delivery it’s still our problem.
Production: Ford is going to build as many units as possible but is likely to miss the targets they set at the beginning. There are no figures available to say how far short of the target they will be as several factors have impacted this.
What happens if you don’t get a ’21: No information has been provided to us yet to answer this. We assume they will have 2 more rounds of scheduling to fill out the ’21 model year. They may ask us to reconfirm ’22 model orders and make changes as needed. Nothing has been communicated related to time stamps, however we assume they will try to build ’22 models with consideration to commodity availability and time stamp.

FAQs

• Is Michigan Assembly Plant still on track to begin customer deliveries this summer? Yes. The all-new 2021 Bronco 2-door and first-ever Bronco 4-door is on-track for summer deliveries and Michigan Assembly Plant is just weeks away from starting volume production!
• Of the millions Ford is investing, can you share how much is going to fix your hardtop supplier issue? And do you have a second or third hardtop supplier coming online? We are taking all of the necessary actions with our supplier partners to get through this roof and commodity Bronco bottleneck. While we are investing millions of dollars to fix our roof supply issue, the benefits from that investment unfortunately won’t materialize overnight. Our goal is to build as many customer Broncos at the highest quality this year.
• Will you need to cut production this year because of the roof issue? We are working as fast as we can to try and get through the roof and commodity Bronco bottleneck. Our goal is to build every customer order as quickly as possible.
• Given the challenges, will hardtop roof production continue for 21MY? Yes. Orders with the molded in color (MIC) hardtop will be built throughout the 2021 Model Year. However, our production capacity doesn’t match up with the actual orders we received and as a result, those waiting for a MIC hardtop will experience longer waits due to roof availability.
• You have communicated the hard top is constrained based on production capacity vs orders received, what about the soft top? Based on current production forecast, there is an opportunity for those looking to get a Bronco quickly, to order a Bronco with a soft top. Avoiding key commodity constraints (Hardtop Roof, 2.7L engine, Lux or Sasquatch Package, Badlands/Wildtrak, Safari Bar or Trailer Tow package, etc.) will increase the likelihood for 2021MY production based on overall part availability vs demand.
• When will Bronco customers receive an estimated delivery window communication? We currently do not have enough foresight into roof availability to accurately provide a delivery window. Instead, we will continue to notify customers as their Bronco two-door or four-door model is:
o Ordered – Order has been placed with Ford
o Scheduled – Vehicle has been scheduled to an approx. build week (45-60 days ahead of production)
o Built - Vehicle is produced and awaiting final calibrations and plant accessory installs. It will include the estimated arrival date.
o Shipped - Vehicle has past final quality checks and is on its way to dealer. It will include the latest estimated arrival date.
• Have all 2021MY Broncos been scheduled for production? No. Scheduling will continue on a monthly basis with the following cadence:
o First Week of The Cycle: First Edition orders
o Second Week of The Cycle: Full month of scheduling
o Subsequent Weeks: Scheduling runs until the operating plan is full
• How are Bronco two-door and four-door First Edition customers impacted by hardtop roof production challenges? All Bronco First Edition orders will be built throughout the 2021 Model Year with the previously announced MIC roof.
• Will customers who have placed their order, now be pushed into 2022 model year? As communicated previously, given demand, we anticipate deliveries to continue through the 2022 calendar year, with some customers getting a 2022 model year Bronco. Delivery timing is based on a number of factors including reservation timestamp, part availability, and the number of Bronco vehicles each dealer receives.
• How can customers receive their Bronco sooner? Customers willing to avoid key commodity constraints (Hardtop Roof, 2.7L engine, Lux or Sasquatch Package, Badlands/Wildtrak, Safari Bar or Trailer Tow package, etc.) will have a higher likelihood for 2021MY production based on part availability.

@Hoosier.Bronco My BL, High, soft top was one that was pulled last week. I plan to get hard top later as well as tow. There is talk, again unconfirmed, they are going to give FP points to people to either buy MIC at a later date or as an incentive to switch to soft. If you are willing change your build some to at least try to get a '21, the changes can be made. No guarantee but you will at least have a chance.

Everyone needs to kick it around this weekend. Can you live without some stuff to possibly get built. If you want what you want, that is fine too. We have about 2 weeks before the window shuts on '21s. Just putting the option out there since the "rules" have changed.......again.

@flip are the dealers getting a demo that we can drive?

@Hoosier.Bronco Crossing my fingers. Our FCTP is supposed to be built the 16th and shows a status of "Sent to Plant". FCTP program is a little different than dealer owned loaners or the FRAC loaner program mainly due to insurance. Ford is requiring us to have a specific loaner form filled out as well as some other info, specifically for insurance. It's not a big deal and only takes a couple of minutes but, yes, this is what these units are for. It will be up to each dealer how they utilize them. Some may let them sit in the showroom and not allow drives, most won't. The demand to test drive will probably be super high for awhile until more become available which is why we will probably do some sort of schedule to make sure everyone gets a fair amount of drive and Q&A time. We want ours to be used like was intended but not beaten up, we still own it and will need to sell at some point.

Ultimately, each dealer will decide what happens to it once they take delivery. If we are trying to sell the next order, it isn't going to help if all it does is sit there and look pretty!

I thought I saw a post today that they are following the normal scheduling next month? Week 1 FE, week 2 normal orders, week 3 & 4 clean up. Is that not the case?

@bytheway I'm not showing any allocation for us this week and nothing previewing. I assume they will resume scheduling like it was prior to Friday but my rep acted like they will be calling with our numbers or type of builds we can get. Nothing since Friday's bomb drop.

@flip Any word this week? Wasn't sure if they were scheduling for August builds this week.

@bytheway Crickets. I've got the NSP showing but don't have any weekly allocation showing. Could mean I didn't have a particular build they were looking for or the process has changed since the announcement. There were issues with the system yesterday that were supposed to be fixed but couldn't tell you what they were.

No regional scheduling.

Scheduling Notes –

  • On Thursday, June 10, Bronco, EcoSport, Escape, Explorer, Mustang, Transit, Transit Connect Wagon and Transit Connect Van orders will not be selected for scheduling.

If anyone wants to switch to soft top in the hopes of getting built this year please reach out to your sales person. Orders that have multiple problems like any 2 door/WT, squatch, Lux, tow probably won't help much by just a top change but at least there's a chance at a '21. We have 10 allocation spots I would rather try to get built with customer orders as opposed to filling those slots with "stock". Either way, this shouldn't impact your place in line if your order is pushed out to '22. Just wanted to make sure everyone knew there were some options available if you were flexible with your order and wanted to roll the dice.

@flip I’m screwed lol hoping for a boxwood green maybe? I’m on the fence for switching Area 51 for a Carbonized Gray though.

@Hoosier.Bronco My wife wants a green one bad. I'm not inclined to obligate this request at this time because I can't wait to get one. Pretty selfish but they'll start cycling through in the next couple of years and she can get her fix when a sport comes in.

I thought about it over the weekend, but wouldn't be happy with it. Gonna stick it out and hope for the best. Appreciate my salesperson calling to check anyway.

@bytheway This seems to be the majority of our customers. Some compromised going from Mod to MIC but that seems to be the line in the sand. If it doesn't get built for '21 we just go back in and change the orders for '22 builds to exactly what you want granted we don't have commodity issues anymore. Once we get by this first year they should have their stuff together. Just a bad way to launch a new vehicle line.

@flip No sense in compromising something major to get it 6 months sooner when I plan to keep it for 10 years. I know I would regret it down the line. Hoping there are some upgrades for 22 to make the wait worth it. I know they mentioned the 2nd row carpeted seat backs on MGV being addressed long ago. Perhaps 2nd row AC vents and cupholders might follow suit. 4 door sasquatch roof rack, etc. If I don't get scheduled this month I will probably change to 99.

Know of any dealers near Cincinnati or Indianapolis that have a 2 door Sasquatch demo to drive?
flip
flip
@J.O. There are a total of 14 units on the ground in the Cinci sales market area. Not sure exactly what they are but it's Airport Ford, Kings Ford, Interstate, Germain, Krieger, Byers, Mountaineer, Bill Cole, Lafayette, Bill Cole, Mark Porter, Stephens Auto Center, Tim Short Ford of Morehead and Ray Skillman Hoosier Ford. Our 2 door FCTP sassy has been done since the 6/16 and has not shipped yet. Assume it's getting accessories or waiting for a transport headed our way.

Thanks I appreciate that information. I’m in Batesville, Indiana and have been driving by Ford dealers when I am in an area but haven’t had any luck yet.
