The reservation, order, and the $100 dollar deposit should be all the signed agreement u should need period. It may be legal but it is not right. if it were me, i would find something "legal" but shitty AF to do to the douchebag to ruin a couple of his days.

God they need to change legislation so we don’t have to deal with dealerships anymore
The problem is that dealership owners/bodies are politically connected and have deep pockets to make donations to the right people.

I think most auto manufacturers would like to have more control over their dealerships, because it seems like they can cause more damage then they are worth as seen in this example.

While I totally support this rallying to stand up for a fellow enthusiast and smear shady dealers...

It's very interesting to see the same group of people who call Facebook users "group-think Karen's" and scream "snowflake" every single time someone reacts something upsetting... Or the complaining about cancel culture in today's day and age...

It's amazing how all of that goes away when it comes to something we universally care about. Because when it matters to us,
  • we aren't Karen's (even though we are by complaining to managers and leaving shitty reviews),
  • we aren't group-thinkers cancel culture activists (even though we are by banding together to bring down an organization based on very little evidence and not hearing both sides),
  • and we certainly aren't snowflakes (even though this is seriously upsetting us even though it has no direct impact to us personally).
Does no one else see the hypocrisy here? It's bittersweet, to be honest. Hoping this brings some self-awareness.

Anyway. Rant over. Dealers are dinosaurs that need to be put to rest. Direct to consumer selling only. Please and thank you.
Are you going to be at the rally next weekend bud? 🤷‍♂️

Life is a lot easier when you just choose to not like anyone 😁 or even care.

Never been to one before, but if we're picketing this Texas dealer, I'd go for the barbecue. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But I'm with you. This sucks. But I'm not gonna go out and do anything about it.

Another reason to order a high spec 2 door.. The dealership is less likely to pull this kind of stunt. Its not as "in demand" as a 4-door family SUV.

I thought Ford sent out emails and messaging to dealerships to NOT add any ADM??

But what was the agreed upon price? And was it put in writing?

Problem is some (many?) people are woefully inept when it comes to buying a car. And the reservation thing probably made the situation worse for those folks, thinking a price was agreed by both parties when it might not have been.

I don't know how you walk away having ordered a vehicle, and especially in some cases having put money down, without having a solid written agreement of the final price.
But what about common decency though. This is just another example of why ppl don’t trust car dealerships.

Letting someone else test drive the customer’s reservation was a total slap in the face…😡

Remember last September when many of us were predicting this would happen? From that post:

I started out shopping around for price but after listening to a lot of lies, misinformation, avoidance, and general rudeness, decided to change on principle. It's as if all the Front Range dealerships have been instructed to not accept transfers from other Front Range dealerships, or discuss pricing, or put anything at all in writing. I fully expect them to charge whatever they want once they have people locked in, and after the October 31st deadline.

At the time, we could only change dealerships one time and had until October 31 to lock one in, so we were scrambling for find one we could trust, who would put the price in writing and sign it. Many of us did, and I for one have been sleeping a lot better since signing that deal with Granger. (Ford later changed the rules so that you could change dealerships more than once, and they also extended the time to change them, giving people ample opportunity to find an honest dealership that would put a price in writing for the buyer.)

I feel bad for people who are getting screwed on price right now, and for those who are going to get screwed and just don't know it yet. But hundreds of people on this site were talking about this exact scenario almost a year ago and many of us did something to avoid it.

I'm not blaming the buyer. When you log into Ford's website, build your truck, and get a price, you kind of expect that's what you're going to pay. Unless you've had enough bad experiences with dealerships, why would you expect anything else? I think that was the average buyer's thinking, anyway.

I do hope Ford steps in and does something about this situation. The thought of a dealership allowing other people to "test drive" my Bronco makes my blood boil. Letting them bid on it? I don't even know what to say.

I wonder if this is the guy who just wandered in and bought her Bronco out from under her. I suppose he could be referring to a Sport.... but the timing of the review makes me wonder.

Price on the Dora means shit. Signed Purchase might have leverage.
Maybe it was the purchase agreement, recall signing & dating them and had invoice pricing and then other discounts below that. Im with Granger so not really worried.

I came across this the other night because it turns out the person that got screwed over was a friend of a friend.

My biggest issue when hearing about it was that the person is a young woman in her mid to late 20s. She’s definitely no hardcore Bronco enthusiast that followed online forums that warned about this shit. I’m almost certain that she’s never ordered a vehicle as opposed to just being a walk-in customer.

I haven’t been able to get the details on how her reservation and order process went, but she did share a text string with me that showed the salesman telling her the day of pickup that there were walk-in customers with “insane offers for it” and that his managers were telling him there would be ADM of $10k. The text with the additional markup literally follows her text that she’d be at the dealership soon. Then when she got to financing the ADM shot up to $20k!

Definitely would have been harder to pull this shit on a dude. I know I would have been livid and parked my ass in the Bronco and let everyone know what they were trying to pull.
I’d call down the local media on the spot and give them a story , there dealership would be done . Wait over a year and pass up all kinds of vehicles and then get railroaded. Nope I’d be in jail!

It helps me and means everything since I negotiated a price based on Invoice (which for this purpose behaves the same as MSRP).

Since Ford isn’t changing their price, my price doesn’t change either.

If you or anyone else didn’t negotiate a price based on that, and just came to some random understanding with the dealer, that’s not on Ford.
I have a printout of my build out and cost total at bottom from converting my reservation to order. However, to say that’s on the buyer for not getting something in writing is utterly shameful and ridiculous. If, what this dealer did is true, than that’s poor business. Piss poor, and you can try to slice it any which way, but it’s wrong. Marking a vehicle up that much if somebody reserved it at msrp, is for nothing other than the dealerships own pocket. Greedy! No other way to describe it

Ford should severely punish that dealership with a drastic cut to their 2022 allocation of all vehicles. Zero sounds like a fair allocation for them.
I think this would justify pulling the rest of their Bronco allocations for this year (maybe 22 also since they probably won’t see any 21s). Right after they make it right with the customer they fucked over.
Only for new orders. Obviously we wouldn’t want to hurt anyone that’s waiting for an order.
