Wrong. Tesla had to sue the state of Michigan - free market loving republican house, senate, and governor to be able to sell direct to consumers. Freedom. Free market. LOL, money talks and the money said nope. They still can’t sell a brand new car in Michigan.
What's really bizarre is that Tesla is building a factory in Texas but may have to ship the cars out of Texas to sell to Texans because in Texas, laws prevent auto makers from selling directly to consumers.

I actually moved my reservation from villa Ford down to kearny Mesa. No specific reason other than that Eric at Kearny was very vocal and open about not only honor x-plan pricing, but also that nothing above MSRP would be charged. He has actually backed that up as recently as 7/10 in an email.
that being said, the guys at villa Ford have always been cool and is where I will be getting additional accessories and services through. Additionally, they did say at the bronco tour that they wouldn’t be charging above MSRP. I guess in the end I just felt more comfortable with Eric’s knowledge of the bronco and the process and his openness about pricing
Villa has been pretty good. I chose them because I was really late to the party and I figured they would get a large allocation giving me the best shot at a 21. Of course I’m getting a 2 door so I’m SOL anyway.

I'm sure I could have gone in or done it differently, but as I recall, my salesperson called me in March to say, hey, we better actually build this thing or you will lose your place in line. I was on set, and we did it all very quickly over the phone in between takes. Then he emailed me everything.
Yeah sbf tried to get me to go in now that I recall but didn’t have time w work. So they reluctantly did email/scans.

I came across this the other night because it turns out the person that got screwed over was a friend of a friend.

My biggest issue when hearing about it was that the person is a young woman in her mid to late 20s. She’s definitely no hardcore Bronco enthusiast that followed online forums that warned about this shit. I’m almost certain that she’s never ordered a vehicle as opposed to just being a walk-in customer.

I haven’t been able to get the details on how her reservation and order process went, but she did share a text string with me that showed the salesman telling her the day of pickup that there were walk-in customers with “insane offers for it” and that his managers were telling him there would be ADM of $10k. The text with the additional markup literally follows her text that she’d be at the dealership soon. Then when she got to financing the ADM shot up to $20k!

Definitely would have been harder to pull this shit on a dude. I know I would have been livid and parked my ass in the Bronco and let everyone know what they were trying to pull.
As a woman I can confirm (SOME) dealers pull this shit on us purposely. I literally screamed at a dealer when I bought my last car because he f*cked around and found out I don’t play games with cars or finances.

So note for any other ladies on here. Give people a chance first but always have your guns loaded in case they don’t.

They still did it even if they get pressured to do what they should have done in the first place
Agreed. I would likely edit my review to reflect that massive external public pressure was instrumental in moving them do the right thing and, while I give them credit for stepping up when confronted, buyer beware possible--even likely--costly shenanigans and questionable integrity.

I don't recall the source off the top of my head, but I remember reading somewhere that direct-to-consumer sales by car manufacturers could reduce sale price (read: MSRP) by as much as 30%. It makes sense in theory to me. There's still going to be plenty of competition between car manufacturers, and without dealerships there's no middleman to take a cut.

My personal experience with ordering my bronco was doing all the research and choosing the specs myself, then speaking to a dealer only to enter my order into the system. They're good and honest people at my dealership, but they literally added nothing of value to my ordering experience, yet they're pocketing the difference between invoice and MSRP for the 10 minutes they spent putting the order I spec'd out into their system.

EDIT: Found the source where I got 30% from https://www.newsweek.com/why-cant-you-buy-car-way-buy-computer-453657
The manufacturers make money off of the dealerships. If that goes away, it will be added to the car. Also, the land employees, buildings etc are not but would have to funded by the manufacturer, making the price go up. Most new car dealerships make little to no profit on new cars. They give the new cars away trying to build their service base. Service and parts are the main drivers in dealer profits as well as used cars. The minimum goal of any dealership is to have their service department cover 70-80% of their monthly costs. Good dealers cover 100%. Any money made on the cars or finance products turns into the profit. The 30% line in the article is complete garbage and probably made up and the manufacturers would never give it up and raise it even more to cover costs they don’t even have now and would lose the revenue source that they have of the dealers. Ford tried to convert the Indianapolis market into a Ford run area and got crushed and was canned. There are bad dealers that are idiots in every market. Just don’t buy from them. The dealer of this article, if they did not honor what they said, is a total piece of garbage, especially on a reservation. A call or Instagram post to Ford or the newfordbronco page will correct that situation in a hurry from what I’ve seen on the Mach E and such. BTW, depending on which Bronco you ordered there is around 1,000-1500 of mark up between invoice and MSRP, they still aren’t killing you and I’m paying less than MSRP for mine, so you can find good deals even on Broncos.

Lol I feel bad for the two door homies. End of the day, I actually would prefer a soft top over a hard top so it sucks that two doors don’t even have the option. But yes they are good guys and I’m sure they take care of you!

Didn’t Ford state in their emails to customers that prices would be locked in for reservation holders as part of the “incentives” after all the deadline delays? How is this even allowed after Ford said our prices would be locked in?

Came across this post on a 6th Gen FB page. Hope everyone got a signed purchase agreement when they ordered their bronco.

Can someone explain what Ford's price lock guarantee means for those of us who ordered before March 19th? If that's the case but the dealership can still add ADM then what is the point? I'm a Z plan customer so I thankfully don't have to worry about this but if I were expecting to pay the price of my order that Ford said was locked for 2 years only to find out that the dealership can decide to add whatever markup they want after that I would be livid! I have my DORA but it isn't signed and I trust my dealership but now I'm wondering what tricks I may need to protect myself from. I know I'm a 22MY so I'll be "reordering" when those order banks open and I'm wondering if I need a signature now from the dealership stating what my exact expectations are. I'm actually shocked that a dealership would do this and think that the original owner wouldn't raise absolute hell for doing this.
I put my order in on March 9th so I better be!! It sure sounds like Ford and the dealerships truly underestimated the passion we have for this vehicle. To think that you could do this to an early reservation holder and not expect to get explosive rage from this community is so short sighted of that dealership. They deserve everything they got coming!
As already pointed out, Ford is locking in the price they are *suggesting* the dealer sell for (MSRP), but being independent businesses, the dealership can decide whatever they want.

This is why it’s important to negotiate/agree on a price that is based on MSRP or invoice… so your price is known irrespective of what else changes (model year, adding or deleting options, etc).

MSRP won’t change from MY21 to MY22… MSRP has nothing to do with what a dealership sells a vehicle for… the “S” is doing a ton of heavy lifting.

If you put $ down to reserve it since it was a customer order they aren't allow to sell it. It belonged to you, unless you gave up the rights to it. Which even if they insisted it would be 60k. I would tell them to fly a kite and that they have my $ to reserve it for me. They can't sell it w/o your permission. If they have to sit on it for even a month; they can't sell it. Mind you, something should have been in writing. I'd call Ford CS and see if they can do anything. But they will probably say they are independant dealers and can't force them to do anything so... Call this a lesson learned. Lastly you can threaten to leave them negative reviews and report them to the BBB.

No increase in MSRP is not protection against ADM. if you don’t have a PA get the lube.
