No lawyer would touch it with a 10 foot pole. No signed agreement, no right to MSRP.
I don't know about that. Everyone on here is on close communication with our dealers. However, we are a small segment of the population that paid for a reservation. Most probably never even spoke with dealer except with a sales person to convert to an order. The only price they have is supplied by Ford. Without any prior notification of an ADM, then the stated price from Ford, is the only consideration offered by the customer in regards to the consideration from Ford which is the Bronco reserved.

So we should be aiming to get a signed MSRP agreement with our dealers asap then?
Who doesn’t have a signed agreement with their dealer with the following deal point?? I thought this was standard but I guess shady dealers would try to let customers order without that?? But in that case how no paper trailer for the two addlt deposits post $100 reserve fee to Ford day 1.

I don't believe Ford can do anything about this. Laws protect the dealers.
Fair trade practices might also come into play if ADM was never disclosed at the time customer paid a fee for their reservation. If the only price quoted was MSRP by Ford and deposit was made based on that price... Could be interesting. I feel that's why they can mark-up reservations that's are walked away from and sell to someone else, because they never agreed to MSRP and ADM can apply.

Elon musk tried to bypass the middle guy and sell directly to consumer. He was told to take a hike . Cars have to be sold by dealers based on some legislation passed many years back
And in Utah that legislation was passed to protect the biggest car dealer in state. They also passed a law that a dealer couldnt sell a car on Sunday. There were some dealers who decided to begin selling on Sunday in Salt Lake valley(may have been mostly used car dealers) and the lobbyists for the mega dealer here got a law passed. The (un)American way!

Someone would have to take a beating. Or have their dealership burned to the ground. Maybe both. I’m feeling very lucky to be buying from Stephen’s. Worth the 6 hour drive to deal with good, honest people.

I wonder how the people that put down hundreds or thousands down for a DEPOSIT are doing with dealership that well hold there money for more than a year because of the hard top problems. I can just hear the dealership saying “ we told you NON Refundable“. 😡
[/QUOTE
No, you don't. I ordered mine over the phone. My father ordered his online. I had to remind him to get quote in writing. It was the first car each of us has ordered in over 13 years. Sage advice. You get something that says, "this is not an invoice."
how did you pay the second and third deposit of 400 + 500 without receipt or paperwork though? I don’t mean rhetorically i mean literally?

Can’t wait for the death of the dealership model. I know there are a few good dealers out there, and I know it’s their livelihood and careers, but the bad dealers FAR outweigh the good ones.

Yeah the guy who got screwed should have confirmed price in a written document, but only a very small percentage of car buyers are even aware of ADM. And for someone who isn’t into cars or hasn’t purchased a really hot vehicle brand new or done a ton of research here would have no reasonable expectation that the dealership would be charging 150% of MSRP. Shitty behavior. I think in 50 years dealerships become just service centers/new vehicle storage and delivery hubs. Everything will be purchased direct from the manufacturer.
Sounds good in theory but no manufacturer has the money to own all of their dealerships (outside of Tesla). Also customers would hate it as then you’d pay MSRP for everything no matter what and with no competition your trade would go down as well. Outside of a few douche bags, you’ll always save money in a franchised system as a consumer.

Over the past several months, with the value of the Bronco skyrocketing and dealerships struggling through some tough times, I have wondered if we would be seeing this exact scenario play out.

I think turning this into an indictment on the reservation holder for not getting a signed price as opposed to a verbal agreement instead of where the blame belongs (firmly on the greedy dealership) tends to add legitimacy to these integrity-challenged dealerships and condone them steeling the reservation by in essence pricing him out of his own order.
Well said, the dealership should act in good faith, and this conduct should not be excused because a purchaser did not bring a lawyer with him to paper the original deal.

Those are company owned. They are really only a service department. I believe you can buy used cars from them. They don’t know have new cars in stock that I believe. I had a friend who was a “salesman” for Tesla and from what I gathered even if you bought one in the “dealership” it was all done online on an iPad. Even the used cars.

I don't recall the source off the top of my head, but I remember reading somewhere that direct-to-consumer sales by car manufacturers could reduce sale price (read: MSRP) by as much as 30%. It makes sense in theory to me. There's still going to be plenty of competition between car manufacturers, and without dealerships there's no middleman to take a cut.

My personal experience with ordering my bronco was doing all the research and choosing the specs myself, then speaking to a dealer only to enter my order into the system. They're good and honest people at my dealership, but they literally added nothing of value to my ordering experience, yet they're pocketing the difference between invoice and MSRP for the 10 minutes they spent putting the order I spec'd out into their system.

EDIT: Found the source where I got 30% from https://www.newsweek.com/why-cant-you-buy-car-way-buy-computer-453657

This kind of shit makes me want to puke. If this is accurate the dealer needs to be slaughtered on google reviews.
It’s happening already. I checked they were 4.4 there’s down to 4.3 the negative reviews are flying in.
