So Ford is basically obliterating dealer allocations, right?

You know what else just popped in my head.... I'm guessing that the "severe dealer penalties" for the 20% screw factor is out the windows as well?

So woth so much stock vs reservations mixed... Good luck on any dealer actually getting caught for selling other people's orders. And the whole cancel process now... Guaranteed dealers are going to keep those which means the rest of us don't move up as people get fed up and leave.

Just a thought but has anyone considered Ford does not care about making 2 doors since the market demand is higher for 4 door mall crawlers? From all the builds I see it's clear that 2 doors aren't a priority at all. I've ordered a base 2 door with a V6 (it's hard to believe they can make 4 door bases but not 2 doors) they make the least money on my trim level and could care less to try to build it even tho they could
Remember, 4-doors can be made with soft tops… 2-doors are only available with hard.

The mere fact that hard tops are constrained means that automatically more 4-doors are able to be produced.

I think anybody who thinks Ford's system automatically goes through all of the builds and pulls out the first buildable vehicle according to time stamp and dealer allocation is fooling themselves. They clearly don't have this system in place. If they did, there would be no way to assure anyone a build date months in advance based on constraints.....

I will say this...I will be ROYALLY pissed when I see my exact order sitting on a fucking dealer lot with a markup and I get shafted to a 2022.
I think the idea (in theory!) is that this shouldn't happen. These builds would go to customers instead of dealer stock. That being said, I will not bet against the scenario you mention, with all that has gone down already.

@ZackDanger Im not sure what you do for a living, but you clearly articulate and interpret information on this forum better than any Ford communication received. With that, I have some scenarios and questions.

Do regions play a factor when scheduling builds within dealers allocations? For example, how likely is it to occur that one customers build in Texas is forfeited due to constraints and that dealer is now given dealer stock for that allocation, however that exact customer build was scheduled in Connecticut that same month or week. In this scenario the Connecticut dealer got priority over the Texas dealer for the same build. Based upon what? Would that be determined or based on the number of dealer allocations? (What if the Texas dealer has less, exact, or more allocations than the Connecticut). Or just luck of the draw with Fords formula.

I based this on my experience with my dealer. I’m a first day reservation, #1 of 10 allocations (of 13 orders). Doesn’t mean much I suppose anymore. No schedule build yet. Last I spoke with my dealer, about 4-5 weeks ago, he told me he hasn’t received any customer scheduled builds yet. However, I see that identical builds to mine (and others at this dealer) have been scheduled, but are all outside this state or region, with many being later reservation timestamps.

Hopefully that makes sense.

I think Ford got scared when Jeep announced the Recon extreme the other day that people who was waiting for the Bronco going change there mind about buying a Bronco sense they well be able to buy Recon sooner then a Bronco thats why they decided to fill dealer lots before orders which mean people with orders well wait longer now.

I don't think you understand how sophisticated supply chain logistics systems can be.

I think your experience/intuition/question makes a lot of sense, and is a logical conclusion if I were in Ford’s position.

Ford necessarily has to factor in logistics of transportation and I’m sure other things we aren’t even considering into what vehicles they build in what order and for whom.

Just playing the thought experiment, if everything else was absolutely equal, I would probably prioritize sending a bronco to a market where it would have a larger positive impact on future sales, versus a middle-of-nowhere dealer with a couple orders…

And everything else being absolutely equal, I would probably have to send them to places that I already have transports headed. If there’s a train/truck load light a couple vehicles heading East, and none heading west, I’m going to finish filling out the former with a couple Broncos before starting a whole new one heading to the latter (for just the one Bronco).

Obviously things aren’t always equal, so those decisions aren’t so cut and dry, but just the fact that these considerations must exist says to me that they also must play at least some role in scheduling. I have no idea how it’s factored in, or to what degree, but it can’t be zero.

Additionally, I’m sure this is also a large reason for why people’s timestamps were prioritized against the other orders at a dealer, and not nationally. Generally speaking, since it is a sampling, someone’s place in line should be the same either way, but by attacking the problem as dealer chunks, Ford can send a truck to Dealer A with a full week or month of Broncos mixed in, and then do Dealer B on the next truck, vs each bronco that rolls off the assembly line heading to a unique destination somewhere on the continent.

And to answer your first question: I’m a Jamba Juice Manager.

I would be curious how much the FE orders could/would eat up a dealers’ allocation.

Supposedly, Ford says all FE will be built for MY21. That’s about 7,000 or 14,000 total.

What happens when a dealer has 50 allocations and 100 orders…but 60 of them were FE orders.

1) will the dealer only get FE for MY21?
2) what happens to the 10 extra FE after allocations run out. They would have supposedly been built in 2021….do they just sit at MAP until next year allocation for that dealer?

Any ideas for speculation on this one?

Of the 17 total allotment for round 1, they specifically said 2 are FE. We have 3 FE orders and none have VINs yet. One was 99’d because the customer was holding out for a painted top. Now that this is out the window he is MIC’d. Next week about 1,200of FEs are supposed to get scheduled but not sure if that’s the balance or just partial. I assume they will keep scheduling these until all are filled prior to ‘22 production. Have not heard or read that but it would make sense.

To your specific question, since FEs was limited to 7k and rumor is there are not that many retail orders, each dealer will get those buildable FEs. Again, FE was part of the total allocation but also called out specifically in that number. If they aren’t going to get built I would think zone managers will or have reached out to dealers with that info.

Short answer is I think they will build all FEs this year, just don’t know the timeline yet.

My understanding was that FEs will all/only be MY21. (Hence all the drama around the mod tops and dealers needing to reach out to customers.)

I’m pretty sure FEs don’t count towards a dealers allocation.

That’s what we’ve been doing the last few days. Almost all are going MIC.

The first five words of your post constituted the most accurate information I’ve seen since I joined the forum. It certainly seems to apply to the automaker in question.
My dealer's manager said the exact same five words to me when I emailed him about my order status at 2:26PM on Friday, before the 4PM email.
