I'm pretty sure it's gone down officially that they DO count towards allocations. Every Bronco that shows up at a dealer goes towards their allocations sans the VIP orders.

So 12 stock orders most definitely replaces 12 reservation orders.

Why would you think that? Dealers will still get the same number allocated…they will just go to different people (or dealer stock) because of constraints.

I agree. I guess my overall point is that with constraints, Ford is just trying to build what they can.

The formula 1) allocation 2) constraint 3) timestamp cannot hold up at this point. They are going to have to go 2, 3, 1 in order to pull all of the soft tops into production and limit the impact of constraints in general.
Some dealers may win or lose, but at least the reservation holders can be told they were put first.

Put down the cool aid. Reservation Holders are clearly not put first. Every change Ford has made to the process proves this out.

Okay, here’s my hot take:

MY21 allocations are centered around production capacity to begin with. Ford can only produce X Broncos in MY21, and there are Y orders…. So generally speaking a dealer’s MY21 allocation is the x/y ratio based on their total orders.

Therefore, if a dealer has an allocation of 50 MY21 Broncos, there isn’t any more capacity in the system. If Ford can’t produce a retail order, and it turns into a stock order, Ford can’t magically now produce 51 MY21 Broncos.

So yes, any stock order that is produced would count against a retail order.

BUT

For a dealer to get a stock order sent in place of a retail order, it’s because by definition there aren’t any customers with orders that can be built. It’s either build a stock order or nothing… just think of it as another retail order behind yours getting built first because they don’t have the parts for your dream build but they do for the other guy’s.

The rub is that they have to keep the production line running, and there’s only so many they can produce… so it’s not really possible for them to just stop producing Broncos and then making all of them in November if and when the parts become available for only retail orders.

Additionally, allocation (generally) is the same x/y ratio for all dealerships… so a person’s chances at MY21 are (generally) the same everywhere….

BUT,

It’s conceivable that Ford could build your bronco this week, but your dealer is out of allocation in this block, so instead, those parts go to build a stock order for a different dealer… though that could be true for a retail order at another dealer as well.

(i actually have to agree that this solution to the allocation problem probably makes the most sense… it would suck to basically deny a dealership any allocation in a block just because none of their orders can be built… these are businesses, in some cases small family ones, and it would be terrible to renege on their allotment of vehicles to sell just because all of their customers wanted MIC… like I said, allocation is generally a consistent ratio to how many orders they recruited, so maintaining that is probably to most fair to FoMoCo’s customers… which are the dealerships)

I will say this...I will be ROYALLY pissed when I see my exact order sitting on a fucking dealer lot with a markup and I get shafted to a 2022.

You won’t find your exact order with a mic hardtop on the lot before you get yours. Dealer stock will solely be ragtops

I think some of you are missing the point of the dealer stock. Yes it will absolutely count towards the dealers allocation. They will not be filling dealer stock if they can fulfill a reservation holders order with the same build at that dealer. Reservations will be put over dealer stock, but if a reservation holder refuses to remove the hard top and they can’t build it then they will build a soft top for dealer stock. Ford isn’t going to stop producing broncos if they cant build any customers orders because they don’t have the parts. Reality is, is that at some point all the Broncos they build are customer builds as they will be sold to customers. Yes some will see their same build at another dealer but thats all due to allocations and is shitty, but the reality. Ford did state when you made a reservation that it doesn’t Guarantee a vehicle. Take that for what it’s worth.

I think we can assume those will not count toward allocations. Ford has given everyone a chance to modify their order and provided plumbing for soft tops. It shouldnt affect anyones orders. Keeping the lines moving is critical to their business. The constraints are known, so we can all make an informed decision as to what we want to do.

I adjusted to a soft top, let’s hope I don’t get screwed in the process
