Bronco v. Bronco sport

I’m not buying a bronco to impress other people, so they can call whatever they want a bronco for all I care

Getting all bent out of shape about what should or shouldn’t be called a bronco is directly validating the very marketing/propaganda motivation behind calling the sport a bronco. Congrats!

I think the Bronco Sport is a cool vehicle. I would get one, except I no manual transmission, so I am getting a real Bronco instead.

I have heard a few people say it is confusing having more than one Bronco, and I point out Jeep. Jeep Compass, Jeep Patriot, Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler. They are all Jeep’s.

No difference with Bronco. For a lot of people the Bronco Sport will be a great option.

Huge difference. Bronco has been gone for a long time and Jeep has an established brand. And Jeep is the brand like Ford. It would be like having a wrangler compass.

I kinda wish Ford called the Sport the Bronco II. (Not sure if it's been discussed here yet.) People figured it out back then, I'm sure when they see it, they'll figure it out again...

The Sport makes things unnecessarily complicated for branding that didn’t need to be. The furniture CEO was not good for Ford. Hoping Farley can right the ship and keep things more focused. Meanwhile, we’ll just have to get used to explaining ourselves.

"The Furniture CEO" was behind amplifying the voices that wanted to launch the Bronco.

If you like the Bronco, you 100% need to give him credit. It is entirely likely that without the "Furniture CEO" the Bronco would be the like the Blazer.

He even specifically pushed details like "Bronco bolts". He wanted it to be an enthusiast/passion oriented, customizable vehicle.

Amazing how some think that Farley created the Bronco out of thin air when he took over in the FALL last year (months AFTER the Bronco reveal). Fun fact: It takes a full 5 years minimum and billions of dollars to develop and launch a brand new vehicle.

Also, the Bronco Sport looks to be a home run of a launch. The fact that Ford had the guts to launch it side by side with the Escape in the showrooms is Hackett's idea as well. Did you see the +23% boost in Ford sales in Q1 v. last year? Perhaps their product is better than ever? Who do you think was responsible for that?

Once again:
1. The Bronco is a brand that is evolving to a Make more than a Model.
2. There are 3 Broncos: 2-Door, 4-Door and Sport.
3. All are Broncos, even though 2 out of the three have 4 doors, which was an iconic element of 5 previous generations of Broncos.
4. Also, the Mustang Mach-E is a Mustang too. Mustang is also evolving to be a Make v. just a Model. A 4-door Mustang is a Mustang just as much as a 4-door Bronco is a Bronco.
5. Having 100s of thousands of Bronco Sports and Mustang Mach-E's sold helps Ford which helps R&D for the 2-door or 4-door, or Mustang Mach 1 that you love.

I see this in the local Jeep club all the time and agree it should have been behind the real bronco. The problem is a lot of people see the baby bronco thinking its the direct competitor to the JK/JL/Gladiator and laugh.

uhhh.... Ford is an actual company. Jeep is not. You can buy share of stock in Ford, you can’t buy stock in Jeep.

But this argument is pedantic, bottom line is that Bronco Sport is a real Bronco.

The sales of the Bronco Sport may exceed that of the Bronco long term.

THIS IS A GOOD THING. The more sales under the "Bronco name" the better for Ford.

Agreed. The bronco sport is actually a cool little vehicle, but shouldn’t be called a Bronco, it’s extremely confusing for the general public.

Hell, there are even people that come here and start threads about their Bronco Sport that don’t even realize they are on a site dedicated to the real Bronco. I think some of them might not be aware of the big bronco that’s in the pipeline.

It’s a strange move, especially when the “Bronco” nameplate means next to nothing to the target demographic of the Bronco Sport
