We love Broncos but… what’s the most annoying “small issue” with your Bronco?

In response to your issue, I had the same problem like all of us. I fixed the paint damage there and then applied some adhesive door edge molding along the top of the tailgate and it's held up for the last 2 years with no further issue. I hope this helps.

I would rather have worn-through paint than that door edge molding. But I like the color of your Bronco. ;)

Soft top rear hatch and how it opens. Everyone involved with the design should have been fired.
😂 sounds like that one really missed the mark for you.

Is it more the way it opens, or just the overall usability that bugs you?

I used to hate the e-brake on my Lexus, but actually figured out, when set to come on automatically, it would save a little driveline wear and tear when on hills.
Oh that's good to know. Love it when those annoying features turn into useful ones once you figure it out. 👍

On the topic of the parking brake, the thing that gets me is that most every other vehicle is a "pull to release, and press to engage". I'm a bit slow to adapt, but even after 3 years, I'm still jumping in and "pulling" to release my brake. But once I sort that out, it's smiles for miles! 😁
I don't ever "release" the parking brake, I just stick it in drive, or reverse, and start driving. I think it's kind of stupid to have a parking brake that automatically releases when you start driving, but that's how it works, so I take advantage of it.

My son-in-law tore the brake release completely off when he tried to release it when I let him test drive it. I bought a replacement, but then learned how to reassemble the thing. I would really prefer a hand brake.

Oh, and the just-drive-away thing apparently only works on automatics - my son can't do that with his manual transmission Bronco.

Probably windy weather noise, it seems worst than just the high speed driving noise. Especially if it's blowing sideways or at an angle to the direction of travel.

Minor issue, I wish the front camera would show wheel tracks in 2H when you turn it on ... it would help with parking and car washes.
Yeah, crosswinds can make it way worse than just normal road noise.

The camera point is a good one, seems like a small tweak that would actually be really useful. Wonder why they left that out. 🤷‍♀️

Two things.

One - that little annoying piece along the guide rail of the rear window for the soft top when you’re taking off / putting on the windows. Lining it up to feed smoothly into the main rail holder is annoying!

Second - I wish the front seats could slide back about another inch or two (OBX Lux). I’m 5”10 and wouldn’t mind just a smidge of extra room.
Oh that rear window alignment sounds very annoying.

And a little extra leg room can go a long way. Funny how just an inch or two makes that much of a difference.

For me, it's mainly been two cases that are now obsolete with the 6g Bronco:

-Starting a manual transmission on a hill, now no longer an issue thanks to hill start assist;
-Push/roll starting with a low or dead battery, unfortunately not possible with the 6g Bronco.

For the latter situation I now have a portable, compact, and lightweight engine starter to crank the engine if needed.

Beyond that, I've used the emergency brake to carefully roll a vehicle a few feet when off-road, with a manual transmission that gives more control over the situation.

Outside of those two, there are other possible situations I have in mind:

-Engage or disengage the emergency brake from inside the vehicle even if the battery is dead or the key fob not available.
-It would be nice to be able to slow or stop the vehicle if the regular brake system fails and engine compression* isn't enough to do the job. With an old-fashioned emergency brake lever by the driver's side that's possible, and you could have a lot of control over the amount of braking. Even the front-seat passenger could do it. That's what I told my wife to do if I get a heart attack or something while driving in our other vehicle.

With regard to the electric emergency brake, Ford says:

Applying the Electric Parking Brake in an Emergency

You can use the electric parking brake to slow or stop your vehicle in an emergency.
Pull and hold the electric parking brake switch. The electric parking brake continues to slow your vehicle down unless you release the switch. The red warning lamp illuminates, a tone sounds and the stoplamps turn on when you use the electric parking brake in an emergency.

Great. So I'm supposed to bend over and hold down the switch continuously while steering the vehicle, and (if needed) just before a collision I need to straighten back up so the airbags don't main or kill me? Thanks, Ford.

*Thanks to the deficient engine braking on the 2.3. My Bronco has the worse ratio of vehicle weight to engine displacement of any vehicle I've owned.
That’s a solid breakdown: especially the part about being able to control the vehicle in those “what if” situations.

The push-start and rolling control points really stand out… those are the kind of things you don’t think about until you’ve actually needed them.

And yeah, having to hold that little switch down in a real emergency doesn’t exactly inspire confidence.

I have had 2 issues.

1. Driver seat bolt came loose on the front of the seat. I see there was a recall for this up to MY2023, but mine is a 2025, so that was odd. I put some Loctite on it, and put it back in. Hasn't happened since.

2. Driver side rear door window keeps forgetting to open before the door. I do the relearn, and it lasts a few days, then happens again. Thinking this one will need to go back to Ford. Will have to wait until I have time because this is my only vehicle.
That’s interesting, especially the seat bolt on a 2025 after that was supposed to be addressed already.

Good call on the Loctite fix though.

That window issue sounds way more annoying, especially if it keeps coming back after the relearn. Hopefully Ford can help whenever you get it there.

Only thing so far is the headlight knob placement. When I get out my knee sometimes turns the knob and switches lights from auto to on. Very minor annoyance it's just a quirk.

No other real complaints. I'm coming out of driving Jeeps for the last couple of decades so that likely contributes to a lack of gripes.

After driving a 4 cylinder soft top 97 Wrangler for 5 years with barely functional heating, or other Jeeps with awful noises, death wobble, weird quirks, I guess I tend to not be concerned by a little rattle in my off road rig.

I had issues with the rear window squeaking against the tailgate when driving off road for the first year or two. I put a small towel in the gap when I got to the dirt, which stopped it. But after a few years it doesn't do that anymore. But I've also worn the paint off of the top edge where it contacts the rubber part of the back window, so that's a minor annoyance. At least it's aluminum, so no rust issues.
That’s a pretty clever fix with the towel. Simple but effective.

Funny how it stopped on its own, but then left its mark anyway… at least you don’t have to worry about rust. 👊

3 window cracks (an issue with mine, my wife's and my F-150)
The compass is somewhere between 45 and 90 degrees wrong.
Window rattle
Location of the headlight controls - I hit it with my knee often (same in my F-150) - And what's with so many headlight settings? You only need on/off, low/high. (same in the F-150)
Sync issues - about 30% of the time my phone won't connect

Other than that, I love it!!
😂 that’s quite the list… but sounds like you’ve learned to live with it.

Three windshield cracks across vehicles is rough though — that alone would drive most people crazy.

Do you continue to drive with them until they get too bad or fix them right away?

You can't even tell it's there at all with the gate closed. But thanks about the colour. The HPR is amazing in the sunlight!!!

On my FOURTH windshield.

That my wife's phone apparently is the preferred phone. She can be in the house when I start up and it still connects to her's first over mine. Why we can't have the ability to pick a primary phone like most other vehicles I don't understand.
Oh no, sounds like you're apart of the dreaded broken windshield club 😥

And yeah, that phone priority thing would drive me nuts too!

Have you ever looked into any kind of windshield protection, or just been dealing with replacements as they come?

I'm definitely in agreement with the double honk when you get out and close the door with the engine running. Super annoying!

2nd annoying thing would be the car alarm randomly going off after locking the vehicle.

Other than that, I'm very happy with my Bronco.
Yeah, the double honk seems to be a common one and mentioned a bunch here 😅

The alarm going off randomly would be way worse though — nothing like that happening out of nowhere.

Has that been happening often, or just every once in a while?
