Yes. This would be awesome....I own the ranger so I know how the 2.3 and 10 speed auto works. Overall I'm happy with the combo except when starting from a standstill. If you floor it between the lack of air and the turbo spool the car is helpless till its gets to about 15mph. After 15mph there is no problem with the power. I have econoboxes that are not even trying get a car length on me up until 15mph when the truck just takes off.In going to attempt to test drive a ranger and f150 this coming week with my wife to see what the motors are like here at altitude. I'll report back if anyone is interested at all. I know there have been multiple threads about that comparison already though.
I'm curious if the manual would help with this. I think it does because I can rev my engine to 2500rpm and then let go of the break and seems to have good power and a good takeoff.
Coloradoguy.....Yes, I'd get the auto/2.7 combo for the 4 door. That is going to be heavier than the 2 door plus if you are going to tow the 2.7 will do a much better job. The 4 door should be more stable as well at highway speeds and that 10 speed will shift smoothly with plenty of power on tap.
I'm in the same boat. Manual and 2.3 or auto and 2.7. I can't really decide. I'm guessing the 2.7 is going to have a little lag on startup as well, but I'm thinking it wont be as bad as the Ranger, but if you can compare it to the Ranger I'd really like to know. After the initial turbo lag, the 2.7 should be a rocket ship with the 10 speed auto....Either one sounds like a really fun combo though.
