Truthfully, I think they missed the boat. On X is now available on Apple play. So it works from the 12 inch screen just fine. A little late to the party Ford.

But that requires a yearly subscription.

Do you have to be in/near the Bronco and running for the app to work properly? Laying in bed at 2am didn’t produce anything.

Some people are morning people, or afternoon people or night people.

2AM just might not be your peak performance time of day?

OnX is pretty useless on the Bronco dash screen. Anything useful you want to do with OnX - you have to do from some other device. (phone, laptop, etc). Once it projects to the dash - there is very little useful information there. Hopefully Ford has improved over OnX. Will be taking a look shortly. But I doubt it as think most of the problems are not the app….it’s the restrictions Apple puts in place on CarPlay.

To be fair, OnX is quite the marketing machine for how woefully 5-years-behind-the-curve they are.

Gaia GPS is vastly better in design, content, execution and implementation. But expecting your infotainment display to fully replace an interface of your phone/laptop is difficult, there's a ton of legal layers of protection there. At least Gaia let's you route build while remote and has more trail data.

That this is the first mention of it (Gaia) in the thread speaks volumes as to how in-your-face OnX marketing is..... And how few Bronco owners do research and trialing of competing products before purchase.

Just downloaded and it looks like a good start.
But, 3 levels of trail difficulty (1-3 easy,moderate,difficult) is just wholly inadequate.

Just downloaded it as well. I will admit I am a total novice when it comes to offroading but I agree. The one place I have been to Badlands off road park is rated at a 3. Are there difficult sections there yes for sure, but I did a good amount of stuff in my BB on the pizza cutter tires with no locker.

Kinda impressed, the local trails / scramble areas by me are on there and you have the option to download real photos of obstacles on your map.

we'll see...having to login every time you open the app would be inconvienent especially on the trail, but not a deal breaker IMO. It might save, and just wasn't the first time I went in.

Completely understand! it would drive me nuts having to sign in every time. Oddly enough it made me sign in twice the first time I launched it but haven't had to do it since.

Yes, isn't it just one huge off road park??? My daughter is stationed at Ft Wainwright in Fairbanks...was there for this past Christmas. Beautiful state....

I subscribe to GAIA. If OnX would bundle OnX Off-road and OnX Hunt, it would be a better option for me.

Didn't read all the posts. Does anyone use GAIA? If so how does it compare? I wonder how much data usage this will take? I can't see the app until I own my Bronco. I have a VIN, but the app does not accept it yet.

I use GAIA but it'll be a bit before I can compare with this.
To be fair, GAIA has a ton of trails, and one heck of a head start, while Ford has ~1200 trails.

Overall I have no "real" complaints with GAIA.
It feels overly complicated at times, but all the necessary info is there.

Same here. Nothing in my area of Florida, near Tallahassee. Which is surprising because there is a national forest just to the south of me that people drive, hike, etc. in.

Here's a crazy idea, Ford: how about adding Bronco Knoll to your app? It's not like it's BRONCO related...lol

It feels overly complicated at times, but all the necessary info is there.

The whole trail map space is kind of a crap-shoot. There isn't "one app to rule them all".

Overall I think OnX has the best feature set. But they separate their off-roading trail app and their hiking/skiing/biking trails app into two separate apps (OnX Off-road and OnX Backcountry) and therefore two separate subscriptions. Which SUCKS big time.

Gaia's biggest benefit is it is one subscription for everything... from 4x4 vehicles to mountain bikes, hiking, skiing, etc. BUT, Gaia's social features aren't quite as good as OnX, and to be honest OnX seems to have a lot more momentum in the off-road community right now when compared to Gaia.

This new app by Ford obviously has all of the vehicle integrations, but they're using 3rd party data for the trails. So unless they they crowdsource trails/locations it's going to be lacking when compared to apps that have been around for MUCH longer like OnX and Gaia.

Just uninstalled and reinstalled the app, I got the below message on my bronco when trying to connect in sync…weird

hopefully it’ll be good to go next time I get in and see how it is on screen in the bronco.

Interested in the Real Time Tire Gurage listed under tools. If works as advertised it will be great for airing down / up

That is also displayed in the dash real time. It's how I balance my tire pressures when airing back up.
