WTF?! That's just wrong. If I ever have to get my windshield replaced and I see someone doing that, I'd probably give them a real ass chewing. Sorry you had that happen, hope you get everything sorted out

that is just all kinds of ridiculous. I hate it when people just say go ahead and sue, but this is the exact kind of situation that needs a lawyer, after OP reaches out to Safelite to see what they will do.

On that level I am not even sure what repair I would be happy with
good luck

This is why I go local only at family owned places that have been in business for years. Progressive will still cover it, it’s just not their preferred place.

The paint on these things is ridiculously thin, it probably didn’t take much at all to scratch around the windshield, but you’d think he’d tell you, that would have made me mad. But the door thing is completely unacceptable, I would have drove directly to their location to show the, the damage and screenshots of the video and ask what they’re going to do.

Safelite ruined my plastic cowl. Now you can't open the hood without setting there and wiggling it to get the hood up or down. They also hooked my windshield spray nozzles up wrong, I'm guess intentionally because they snapped the inlet tube completely off of one

You said Safelite and that’s all I needed to hear. Had a huge issue with them and fought with them myself with my 4Runner. They dripped their glue chemical all over my dash. I fought with them for weeks to get my dash replaced and rental at their expense. It was a nightmare. And they put the wrong windshield in. I’ll never use them again or recommend them to anyone.

Crap. They are doing mine on 3/1. Guess I better babysit and watch the whole thing!
😮😟😬 perhaps explain to them that your vehicle is your baby and should be treated as such. Maybe apply some masking tape and blankets on every painted surface in the area and remove the doors!!!
Hell.....remove the doors, hood an fenders!!!!

Unfortunately, this is a problem with Safelite. They are not number one because they are the best, it’s because they have a stranglehold on the insurance business. My father worked for Carlite for 20 years back in the day and my brother owned his own glass shop. He didn’t get the automatic insurance bids but those that knew, had him do theirs. Every body shop in town had him do their work when given the option. He installed auto glass for 50 years without fancy tools that Safelite uses so only one person is needed to install at your site rather than theirs. Not one owner of a nice vintage car would ever go to Safelite if they had a choice.

Wanna know the best part?

After a couple more windshield replacements (and you will, it's a near-vertical windshield made of butter), progressive will just straight up drop you.

Go ahead, ask me how I know.

Progressive and Safelite can go fuck themselves with a cactus

I had the worst experience with that company than any other business in my life. My Expedition will never be the same. I will never use Safelite again, and advise everyone I know to avoid them as well. Absolute worst techs that are allowed to touch a customers vehicle, but seeing this makes me realize that they are trained to take half-assed shortcuts and confirms that they don't care. They make enough money to just ignore the pissed off customer and move on to the next job.

thats fucked up. I'd be pissed. I've used safelite a few times. Once in my C5 Corvette, once in my 2002 Camaro Z28 and once in a truck i had. I had really good luck with them and sat to watch them the whole time. Maybe thats why i had good luck
