Great story Wes, and I'm glad that you got it straightened out on a Friday afternoon!OK. I am now going to tell you all a story that only this board can appreciate, and it is something that can only happen to me.
As some of you know, I am an attorney. I have a general practice which means I do some traffic tickets a few accidents stuff like that.
Of course, I waited until the last minute to add the insurance on my new bronco.
When I called Geico to add the bronco I got my quote and then he said “let me just run the reports and I’ll get right back to you”.
The guy comes back on the phone and he says “Wes, I have some bad news this is showing me that your drivers license has been suspended as of two days ago.”
Ummm….WTF….
Then it hit me. I had this old expired registration ticket from the county next-door on my old FJ cruiser, which many of you know, has a blown engine.
Apparently, my dumb ass missed my own court date.
Geico tell me there is nothing they can do until my suspension is cleared.
Being that it’s Friday l, here in North Carolina there is not much court going on; but faster than you can even blink, I throw my suit on and drive that rented 2020 mustang like a bat out of hell to the county courthouse with an order clearing my failure to appear.
Now, finding a judge in North Carolina on a Friday to sign an order is rather like ordering a Ford bronco and expecting it to be built within a reasonable amount of time: it ain’t gonna happen.
But, somehow, someway, the bronco gods were smiling on me because when I walked into the courthouse the judge was standing there in the hallway!
He signed the order striking my failure to appear in the Clerk sent the information to the DMV!
Disaster avoided! I should’ve had a better lawyer ha ha.
But I've got to say- and I'm sure that I'm not alone here- the thought that this almost happened to a lawyer makes me smile just a bit.
Have a great weekend enjoying that beautiful Bronco!
