How do you have saddle bags without a saddle? 💀

But more importantly, how are you protecting your Bronco from the supports when they bounce and hit the body?

Nice job!

It looks like there is a bracket that is sandwiched between the top and body. If so it should be very rigid.

I've been thinking about doing the same thing. I have a TrailRax rack with the Pax Rax kit. Five gallon gas cans make more sense than Rotopax.

In my case buying 10 gallons in Montana is half the price compared to California

I'm in the same boat.

I have two two gallon rotopaks and the PaxRaxs... I'm thinking of going to a Specter Jerry can instead.

What is that back tube against the body "resting" on? Does it have a rubber stopper or something its using to sit against the body or is it "off" the body and only supported at the roof rack?

Awesome job! As I think of offroading and navigating narrow areas adding extra stuff to the sides only impedes this. Ideally, storing on the roof, or above spare wheel does not take away from the vehicles ability to navigate.

Main support and attachment is the roof rack; however, at the bottom is a sheet of 11 gauge steel that fits into the gap and the edge of the steel has an edge protector on it..

I have debated doubling up on the cans as I have enough room for side by side mounting. 5 gal will weight about 42lbs and as others have said the bouncing may be problematic. So it is testing for now.

also I made the whole assembly easy to remove.

The Pax Rax lower bracket bolts between the top and the body. So the body takes the weight. The rack connection mostly stablizes.

You might want to use the Pax Rax rating as a guide. They're rated at 70 lb a side. Your mount looks stronger, but it doesn't have as good support at the bottom. Of course the kind of driving you plan on doing is also a factor.

Actually, it's a good point. If you go a bit off-road, this thing just might fall off.
